Altamont sells the old style grips with a nice selection of inserts. I chose the checkered rosewood inserts. To me, more comfortable shooting than the stock Hogue grip.

For a $10 fee, you can get a letter of authenticity from Ruger. There is a downloadable form on their website. Not sure how much info they give you with that. There is also a phone number you can call for info on guns manufactured after they started keeping electronic records.
