Budget .223 Ammo For A Picky AR

Go to WalMart and buy one of the Federal 100 packs or Remington 40 or 50 round packs (not sure how many there are). Both of these ammo types are turning up again but you may have to visit several stores to find it in stock.

Is this the reason why ammo prices are still high?

It is not against the law to sell a firearm at a profit without an FFL! You're making up law as you go to support your arguments. Now we're off into the twilight zone. You don't need a business license to sell some of your ammo either.

Good news for Wal-Mart ammo customers

At least the stimulus plan is helping the ammo manufacturers!

    Colorado High Plains Spring Shoot

I think you would be better off if the range could face North or Northeast. Ranges that face South are a major problem due to the sun. Aurora Gun Club is a major problem from Fall through Spring because the sun is low in the sky and always in your eyes in the afternoon. North would be far better.

    Favorite 9mm Carry Ammo

I carry either Winchester Ranger or Federal HydraShok +p+ 124 grain ammo.

Help me choose an M1A. or, tell me I'm nuts!

Look for a good older Springfield M1A, preferably a serial number below 80,000. If you are lucky you will find one with mostly USGI parts. I picked up a nice used one recently for $900 with 3 mags and a case. H&R barrel, trigger group, bolt and TRW op rod in a USGI stock. Do the rifles...

    Price For Lead?

I went to a local tire shop and got about 700 pounds of wheelweights for 3 twelve packs of soda. Great deal! :D

    Progressive press worth the money.....

I would definitely recommend a good used Hornday Projector or lock n load. You may be able to find one used for under $200. They are a well built heavy press with a sizeable ram. I don't like the Hornady powder measure that came with my press so I use an RCBS measure instead, works just fine...

USPSA: Reloading 45acp to meet major caliber

I had always used 5.0 grains of Bullseye with 20 grain FMJ bullets. Recently I switched to 4.0 grains of Clays and the load seems softer in recoil. I still use Bullseye but probably load more Clays now.

    .25-06

I love my .25-06, I wouldn't be without one. Great cartridge. I dropped many a whitetail and groundhog with mine before I moved away from PA. Great antelope and deer cartridge for the West too and also great for coyotes when it's windy and the .223 isn't enough.

    Cz-75b

I purchased the CZ75SA (for the nicer beavertail and full profile slide) and had it converted back to DA/SA for USPSA production. I didn't like the looks or the muzzle heavy feel of the SP01, but didn't want it as light as the CZ75B. Turned out a nice compromise, very accurate, sits in the...

    WC820 MILSURP Powder

The lot I have is a little faster than H110 or AAC #9, it is more like 2400. Great powder for magnum pistol loads, originally used in .30 carbine ammo.

Cross-Draw: A carry for all Reasons....

If you continue the draw from the position you are in the photograph you are going to sweep your week hand/arm with the muzzle. I prefer not to let the muzzle pass over anything I might need! I agree cross draw is best while seated, such as driving, but prefer strong side for anything...

Which 45 ACP bullet and load for USPSA

I use 230 grain FMJ with 4.0 grains of Clays. I also like 5.0 grains of Bullseye.

    Which CZ?

I didn't like the SP01 because I don't like a nose heavy pistol. I purchased a CZ75 SA and had a CZ85 trigger installed with a competition hammer. This gives you the full profile slide and the beavertail tang. Lighter in the front end than the SP01 and now SA/DA for USPSA production and IDPA...

    9x23 Winchester

If you are going to use the 9x23 for small game and don't want giant holes in your game (or just pieces parts in some cases) don't use the 9x23 Winchester Silvertips! Use a FMJ, flat point or Hornady XTP.

Ballistic gelatin test results : 9x23mm Winchester Silvertip

From my commander length 9x23 the Silvertips clock 1450 fps +, well beyond what a 9mm +P or +P+ will do. They do fragment violently, I shot a rabbit recently at about 15 yards but didn't have enough left for the stew pot. I don't think that fragmentation is a bad thing in a personal defense...

    Reloading May Be Banned

And how long would it be until there were demands to close the "reloading loophole"? The whole strategy of the anti-gunners is to incrementally take away our rights.

What's good accurate .45 ACP ammo?

It'd be better to load your own, but Federal has a Gold Medal target load that should work just fine though it may be a little pricey.
