    Machinist fixed my bullet mold

I don't understand why you think there is any relationship between the price of a new mold and his time. There isn't. I'm surprised he gave you a price instead of just saying no.

Mindset Behind Expense Of Carry Piece

What is "likely"? I have taken classes from LEOs that have been in a number of shootings. They NEVER got sued. Again, why do you say "likely"? Have you been in a shooting? Have you been sued? Do you know of any LEO that got sued after the shooting - or was it the department that got sued...

Mindset Behind Expense Of Carry Piece

I agree, but not knowing the particulars of the case, my first thought (and I am not a lawyer) is that if you have to chase someone down and then shoot them, it's probably not self defense. Maybe I have the wrong case. What I am interested in knowing is that for good self defense shootings...

Mindset Behind Expense Of Carry Piece

Thanks. I’ve not seen anything on this either, but it seems to be repeated quite often just as “if you ever have to defend yourself you’re gonna lose your gun, justified or not”. I talked to the local cops here a couple of times and they told me the crime lab here is pretty good about getting...

Mindset Behind Expense Of Carry Piece

Does anybody have any statistics for this? I'd be curious to know how many people get sued for defending themselves.

    300BLK Which bullets to use???

I usually shoot subs out of mine. I have switched to the 220 grain Berry's plated 300 blackout bullets: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018181387 I haven't had any problems with them and they are a lot cheaper than other heavy bullets.

How to make sure scope is mounted with crosshairs plumb/level?

I agree. For scopes mounted on rails or flat top actions, I use an adjustable parallel like this: https://www.starrett.com/metrology/product-detail/154A I have a few different sizes I picked up cheap. It makes it very easy and I don't have to worry about the rifle being in a particular position.

    MOA Used Incorrectly

Yes, I agree. It's a legend. I get emails about it to this day ("do you programs take into account the bullets going to sleep?"). I just don't know why people keep perpetuating it.

    MOA Used Incorrectly

Would you please describe the physics of "goes to sleep"?

    MOA Used Incorrectly

Really? Angles become invalid at extreme ranges? MOA is an angle. Period. That's all it is. It's not invalid or valid depending on the way it's used. Just because some people use it incorrectly or shoot at such long ranges that dispersion overcomes any hope for accuracy does not invalidate...

    MOA Used Incorrectly

I don't know why you assume that everyone is incorrect and I disagree with your assertion. Someone saying that there gun shot 1 MOA at 100 yards means they shot a group of 1 MOA at 100 yards. It definitely has a meaning and is not incorrect. What would be incorrect would be shooting a 1 MOA...

    I Should Work for NASA!!!!!!**&$@@#

You can't work for NASA - you took initiative and tried to do something right. Now if you had taken five years, done it with poor requirements, designed a dust cover that could ONLY be used on your rifle, then upgraded the carbine to make the first dustcover design obsolete and then said it...

    Today's Gun Magazines

It’s always the latest and greatest because that’s who buys advertising. The magazines review and write articles about who buys the advertising. They are very biased toward their advertisers because that’s how they make money. I used to like to read a magazine called gun test. At least that’s...

    WFT trimmer or?

I looked at many of these trimmers, but for 223/5.56 range ammo, I went with the Dillon electric case trimmer. It resizes the brass while it trims to length and then I use a decapping die to remove the primers. I have processed more than 1000/hour with it. For accuracy ammo, I use a Wilson...

    Rare Breed FRT

I hear what you're saying. I think it's hilarious. Of course, the gray area is where the anti-gunners think an AR-15 lives. That's the problem with writing stupid rules and trying to enforce them based on opinion.

Grip-N-Pull anybody ever use one of these for pulling bullets?

This reminds of the Davidson bullet pullers. I talked to Mr. Davidson (don't remember his first name - John?) about 35 years ago, and he told me they were designed for loaded rounds with light neck tension.

    Savage Impulse?

I think I see a hook on that linkage that engages the back of the firing pin - I'm guessing this is to keep it from firing out of battery. Also that linkage appears to cam-over so that bolt thrust works against it.
