    Need a New 223 Powder

Alliant's 2000 MR is available online, and works VERY well in my AR and M1-A Service Match rifles. Initial testing showed high velocity, great accuracy in both guns, and reduced carbon deposits in the M1-A's gas system. I have long used Accurate 2520 and 2015, but am switching over to...

    410 crazy

Another old head with four-ten fever. I prefer the little gun over all other shotshells. My main pursuit is Sporting Clays. With a good, properly fitted gun, and premium ammo, targets can be broken at surprisingly long ranges. I have two tournament O/U's, both with Briley subgauge tube...

22 Semi Auto or 410 Pump

Autoloading 22 rimfires are simply not reliable enough for life and death use. Use the 410 pump with handgun buck loads. The 2 1/2" will work fine. The pump is more reliable, and has a very short learning curve. Up close, the Buck loads will end the fight quickly. Federal makes a 20...

    357 mag, Titegroup, Primers

I have long used 5.5 gr with a 158 plated bullet in the 357. A little above what a 38 can do, but easy on brass and gun. I have a 7 banger 686 Smith. No thick cylinder walls in this gun. No high pressure ammo. What they said about magnum loads. It ain't gonna happen with Titegroup.

    Muzzle flash pics

I have had a 50+ year love affair with Magnum revolvers, especially the 44.

    Reloading roll crimped slug hulls?

My advice is, toss them and save regular birdshot hulls fired in your gun, unless your press has a provision to resize hulls. What press did you get?

    .260 or .257

The 260 is a no brainer. Monumentally better than the 257, look at bullet selection and versatility. Also, try to find 257 brass.

    WC 820 reloads

Mind sharing where you got it? This stuff works supremely well in target 410 2 1/2" loads. This is not a powder for reduced loads, and DO NOT use filler with this powder. Start 10% under H110 and work up with crono, if possible. Heavy bullet pull and no light for caliber bullets.

High Extreme Spread with AA#9 in 357 magnum

I have loaded #9 since it came out. Max loads, heavy bullet pull, and standard weights give great results. Not a powder for reduced loads. There may be faster powders, but I think #9 is the best of them all for magnum handgun rounds. I don't use magnum primers. I have used 13.5 gr in the 2...

Ranges & Gun Shows: No Loaded Weapons!

"You would probably be amazed at the number of folks who think its okay to show off their carry gun because they're in a gun store." I have worked in gun shops, clubs, and ranges since 1967. Most folks posting here don't have a clue what they are talking about. I can't tell you how many...

I'm Hooked ... New Wheel Gun

What Lost Sheep said. I have 38's and 357's. I only shoot 357 brass in the magnum revolver. Makes clean up a snap.

.44 Magnum guys, help me decide

I have loaded and shot the 44 Mag since the late 50's. We have a 200 yard steel plate at my gun club I shoot regularly with a 9 1/2" Super Redhawk. I have shot most 44's, and have settled on this model for my needs, accuracy with heavy loads at long range. At longer range, the slow lock time of...

    Cold range vs. Hot range

Speaking as one who has been RSO at high volume outdoor and indoor ranges, I go with a cold range. You do not know the skill level of the fellow standing next to you. I have had new shooters tell me during my safety brief to them that "We don't need that Gun Safety ******!" They got the long...

    Sub-gauge tubes for Damascus shooting

Call Gary Singer at Briley, 1-800-331-5718. Tubes are the way to go if the gun is in good shape.

Help from the skeet/trap/sporting clay community

Depending on your physique, either a Browning or Beretta. A good used one is reasonable. Wider than normal shoulders, bigger build, go Browning. Slim build, slim face? Try the Beretta. I prefer my Blaser Luxus. More money than you probably care to spend for your first O/U. This...

    300-MP Acting Squirrely

Anyone looking at the loading data can quickly tell they are not the same. I load the 2 1/2" 410 for Sporting Clays , and the data is night and day. I load 18.5 gr for 1300 fps in the 410 with moderate pressures. Max charge for H110 is 16.5 gr at a much higher pressure.

Small primer for 45 acp brass?

    heavy bullets for 30/30

Most all domestic 30/30's have a 1-12" twist. The Husqvarna Stalking Rifle has a 1-18" twist. The domestics do best with the 150 gr bullet, the Husky works well with the 125-130 gr FP bullet. Don't try to re invent the wheel, it works fine as designed.
