What You Want In A Gun Store

Hey guys, I have some buddies opening up a gun shop soon. If a new gun shop was opening up near you, what would be important for you to find there in order to make it a frequent stop for you. I.E. hard to find brands, knowledgeable staff, on-sight gunsmith/customization etc... I appreciate any...

NEVER use 147 gr AMMO in a 9mm pistol?

I always keep a magazine loaded with Fiochi 147gr. FMJ with me in the car. It is the hottest loaded 147 gr.FMJ I could find ( 1050 fps ). I have tested it against various barriers and it out-performs other loading I have tried. While not my first ( or even 3rd ) choice for SD, you never no when...

What is it about guns that hooks you?

As a child, there was the obvious cool factor of getting to play with what I knew were my dad's "toys". ( under his supervision of course). As I got older I learned to appreciate the machanics involved in creating a good looking, reliable and accurate firearm. It is as much a work of art as...

Pondering a PX-4 storm in .40. What has been your experience with this weapon?

My PX4 .40 has been great. No malfunctions in close to 1000 rounds so far. It is accurate and super easy to break down and clean. I use it as my go-to house and bed side gun. Don't think i'd like to ccw it, as it is big and heavy. But you will not be disappointed otherwise.

    Nightstand gun

I keep mine with no holster on my nightstand nest to a flashlight. In the morning it goes in a small handgun safe i have.

Softest shooting semi-auto in a Significant Caliber?

My Beretta PX4 .40 is very soft shooting as far as I am concerned. I would imagine that the 9mm model would be a delight to shot. The Beretta 92 is also very pleasant.

What Would You Choose? You Can Only Keep 2 Handguns You Own in 2 Different Calibers..

I think I would keep my Glock 26 9mm and my Springfield 1911 in .45acp. I have the most practice with those and they have been extremely reliable.

9mm ammo choice for woods (limited ammo availability)

I tend to prefer the heavier 147 gr bullets when I carry my 9mm in the woods. That said, I carry the Double Tap 147 gr Flat Nose in my Glock 17 when I go hiking. I also carry a spare mag of their 147 gr HP.

Is Gun Control the Answer? (ABC News Video)

I thought his response was well thought out and reasonable. And obviously not what the interviewer was looking for. I love how she tried to refute his argument with a Brady Campaign talking point but gave no quote or statement from a pro second ammendment group.

    AHHH! (compact combat handguns)

I can only reply on one of the pistols you mentioned. I own the Beretta PX4 in .40. It is a great gun. It shoots very softly and is as accurate as I can be on any given day. The break down of the gun is also very simple making cleaning a breeze. The different backstrap option make fitting it to...

    EDC knife

I really like the Kershaw Scallion series of knives. I have had a couple of them and they are great general use knives. Not made for really tough work but they are good for everyday carry.

Action movies just aren't as much fun anymore...

I have gotten really bad at this lately. To the point of sometimes losing focus on the movie/tv show itself. Luckily my girlfriend thinks its cute. Just started watching the Lost tv series on dvd. It is full of mistakes. Some too bad to let go. Like a guy's 1911 turning into a Sig halfway...

    9mm Double Tap Ammo

I use the there 115g 9mm in all my 9mm's. I have been very pleased with the reliablility and accuracy of these rounds. The smallest gun i use in in is a Glock 26 and they work great. I have also used their .40 and .45 rounds and was pleased with them as well. Not sure about them in your...

Dumbest thing you've seen at the range?

Not at a public range but a friend of mine's property. A friend of his was shooting with us.(I didn't know him) He almost shot his finger off with his XD .40 because he thought he had fired his last round. He pulled the trigger again as he was pointing down range with his other hand. About an...

    What's your "never buy" gun?

Probably any of the HK line of pistols. Just can't justify the cost. They are probably great firearms, just too much $.

How do you grip it: Thumbs forward or thumb over thumb?

I switched to the thumbs foreward grip a couple of years ago. It took some getting used to but my shooting improved once I had mastered it. It is now a completely natural grip for me.

    Handgun for camping

My biggest concern when doing most of my hiking has been human predators rather than any potential animal attacks. In the eastern U.S. I feel plenty comfortable carrying my Glock 17 9mm. I did a week on the App. Trail in North Carolina carrying it and never felt as if I was undergunned. 18...

    Best Action for HD?

I keep my Glock 17 on the nightstand, round chambered at night. In the morning it goes in the safe.

    A CLEAN (poll)

If the gun is being used on the range only, than I clean it after each use and put it in the safe. For my carry piece, I like to run at least a magazine through it after a cleaning just to function check it. Just a wierd habit of mine.
