Thinking about getting into BP hunting- help!

The modern inlines are easier to clean, unload, carry, scope, etc... But after using both, the traditional rifles just "do it" for me. I've got a Buckstalker and it's been a great rifle, aside from the craptastic front plastic sight that literally moves 1/16" when you tilt the rifle left/right...

    Stock advice needed..

I've been trying to track down the forend portion of a cva/traditions kentucky rifle stock. Not having too much luck yet, but I've been busy and haven't had much time to look either. My barrel measures 3/4" across the flats, so the channel would be a little big. I think I could bed it to take up...

    Stock advice needed..

That would make sense, being as it is a cheaper model of rifle. Now the fun part, where do I find a plank of beech wood for a splice? Would I be able to use oak (similar grain) and make it look like someone other than Stevie Wonder did the splice job? What if I used a joining plate like...

    Stock advice needed..

So a little while back I bought a cva .32 caliber "squirrel" rifle. I have been having fun with it after quite a bit of cleanup. I prefer a full "Pennsylvania" or "Kentucky" style stock. I am currently contemplating splicing in some more wood into the forend and creating my own full stock. I...

    50 RB for bear?

.50 caliber ball for black bear? Yeah, sure. .54 caliber ball for black bear? Heck yeah, even better. Use whichever you are more comfortable shooting with and know you can put in the right place. Either will kill a black bear without trouble, assuming you can hit your mark.

    I did it again...

Now that I know the rifle is more than just a wall hanger, I decided to give it a little bit more love. I knocked down the original finish with 0000 steel wool, applied a few coats of tru oil, and then finished up with a couple coats of my favorite wax. Looks like a different rifle, and I...

    I did it again...

I finally got a chance to shoot the new. 32 caliber. The little rifle shoot's decent, but I need to spend more time working up a load. 30 gr of pyrodex rs shoots accurately enough to hit a beer can consecutively at 25 yards, good enough for squirrels or cotton tails. Also, I did not wipe once...

    Weird, but ever notice?

Fart at will! The sulfur smell is nothing to worry about. (if you're not the one smelling it :D)

Black powder vs black powder pellets?

The exact reason I've never had a single issue with the pellets... It's only worth what my experience can teach you, as with everything, YMMV....

Black powder vs black powder pellets?

Pyrodex pellets in a percussion sidelock? Sure thing, no problems. Just take some to the range to ensure that your particular rifle doesn't experience hang-fires with them. I've used the pellets both in my inline and Great Plains Rifle, no problems in either rifle. I prefer loose powder and...

    Best place to buy from?

Scheels is also a great place, I buy a lot of reloading components from them.

Finally got my .32 cva in the mail and all cleaned up. ETA: I hated the rear sight (which was loose anyways), so I took it off and added the fixed rear sight that came with my GPR kit. It looks much better now. A few minutes with a small file and it tapped into place perfectly.

    Best place to buy from?

Yup, TOTW, midway, dixie, etc... I've done lots of business with midway, have been very pleased. The others have a good reputation for a reason. Can't go wrong with any of them, really.

Best Bolt Action 22 under $500

I would personally rather spend the extra $100 and get an heirloom quality rifle that will last many generations.

Best Bolt Action 22 under $500

Yup, can't go wrong with a CZ. For the build quality, price, and performance CZ can't be beat. I have a model 455 military trainer and can't speak highly enough about it. I was originally going to get a savage, but after comparing it and a marlin side by side with the cz, the cz got to take the...
