45 Colt Case Sizing for Rifle

I use the Redding dual ring carbide sizing die for 45 Colt rifle (and pistol) reloads and really like it. Definitely works the brass less (no coke bottle shape). Less to no blow back in the rifle (depending on chamber dimensions). Less force required on the press handle to size the case...

    Bullet Setback in Sig P365/X/XL/SAS

Wow! A certified Sig Sauer armorer actually responded to your e-mail to the company with a direct response to your questions and you call it a "pathetic response" and then challenge them to "put up or shut up"???? Just wow! Totally unrelated, but I am curiously reminded of an old Clint...

Is an aftermarket trigger really worth it for S&W M&P 9?

The stock 2.0 trigger is better then the 1.0, however, IMHO the Apex Duty kit is a worthwhile upgrade. Not that the Apex kit is "needed", but it results in a very crisp, good trigger break that is one of the best striker triggers out there.

best 20 round 5.56 AR mag?

Have used Colt's, no-name metal 20's, PMags and Lancers. They all work, but I prefer the Lancer Translucent Smoke. IMHO, they take the best characteristics of the metal and polymer mags and incorporate it into one great magazine.

    House Fire

Huge wildfire swept through my town last year. At least 2,700 structures total were destroyed, of which 2,400 were homes. Many, many friends/relatives/neighbors houses burned. I evacuated under extreme duress, flames less then 100 yards from the house, thinking it would not survive the night...

    Obsolete/little used cartridges

The obsolete/little used calibers I load for are: 32 S&W (short) 32 S&W Long 38 S&W 38-40 (38WCF) 45-90 I shoot the most 38-40 using black powder, but I also load smokeless. Shot the brass so many times have worn out (cracks in case mouth, neck or body or all the above) at least two full...

    Every round thru case gauge?

I gauge every round of 9mm & 45acp. Once fired brass, very few rejects. Many fired/range brass several rejects per 100. -Mainly due to burrs on case rim or case head diameter increasing below where sizing die can reach.

Recommendation on Sig 365 IWB Holster

For the P365, I've been really happy with the Crossbreed mini-tuck with the horsehide upgrade. I carry on the right side, 4 o'clock position

    Anyone still shoot an 1897?

I have a primary and backup for shooting Wild Bunch Competitions. It sure is fun to stoke the tube and run the 97 at speed on knock down targets!

How far do you usually shoot your handguns?

Multiple ranges. Raw Speed: 7-12 yards Accuracy: 25-50 yards Pure fun: 100 yards

Your best shot with a handgun intentional or not

It wasn't my best shot, but it was most memorable. I was competing in a cowboy action shooting plainsman side match - cap & ball revolvers, single shot buffalo rifle & a double barrel shotgun-all loaded with black powder. I had a jam during the stage with a cap & ball revolver, unfired round...

Anyone annealing pistol (straight walled) cases?

Nope, never annealed pistol brass, life is to short!

What's your favorite .357 Mag. target load.

My favorite 357 mid-range target load is: 158 SWC (hard cast) 7.0 gr Unique CCI 500 (or equivalent) COAL: 1.610" 357 mag out of S&W 686 w/ 4" barrel Ave Velocity: 1,109 fps Has been a very accurate, consistent load. Have been using it for a long time (over 30 years). I shoot more of this...

Holster Question For Ruger Bisley Owners

As mentioned above, it's because of the different hammer profile causing some straps not to fit. The Bisley requires a slightly longer strap. I have a Ruger Bisley and Vaqueros (original frame size). All my leather holsters fit either model frame, just some straps don't. Some straps have...

Shout-out to anyone considering a reloader for their Sig 365.

I like the UPLULA so much I don't even like to try loading a magazine anymore without using it.

Which powder do you like for coated 200gr swc?

For a mid-range load, I've had really good luck with Clays and WST.

Going to give RMR 9mm bullets a try

For accuracy, I have gotten best results with the 124gr Match Winner.

    RMR 124gr MW.

I have tested both - RMR 124gr Match Winner and MBR HP rounds. In my guns, with 5.4 gr of BE-86 in each, the Match Winners appear to be slightly more accurate (like a 1/4" to 1/2" smaller 10-shot group at 25 yards) but VERY close. To really say the Match Winners are statistically more...
