    Rossi r92

I have a Rossi Stainless 92 in .357. It's built just like the 45 Colt. The 92 action is a very strong action. I have been shooting the Buffalo Bore 357 ammo that is close to 30-30 in performance and it is solid; much higher pressure than 45 Colt. I do have a Winchester 92 in 45 Colt and reload...

    1st time 22lr at 100 yards

My experience is that, generally, at 50 yards and less, there are many low cost options that shoot well. At 100 and longer, the field narrows greatly. I almost exclusively shoot subsonic, except for some lever action rifles in which I shoot mostly CCI mini-mags. At 100 yards, my best results...

    1st time 22lr at 100 yards

I challenged myself with the .22 LR precision shooting some time back and found it exciting and maddening at times. Below are a couple of targets. The first is my Anschutz 1416, which is my most accurate .22 LR. The splatter on the lower group is where I shot a lady bug that wandered into the...

Sporting Clays and skeet shotgun recommendations?

That is a great choice. I had one and really liked it, but I like wood and blue. If it fits you, this one will not disappoint. As someone said above, the fit is key. The Benelli offers shim adjustment and comb adjust to get the fit correct, if at first you have issues. I will say this: I have...

Sporting Clays and skeet shotgun recommendations?

For me, my favorite is the Browning 725 sporting Citori. Mine is the 12 ga version and 30” barrels. Right next to it is a Benelli Ethos 20 ga with the nickel receiver beautiful shotgun and I shoot it as well as the Browning. I have a 1983 Remington 1100 that shoots well, also, but I hate...

    Browning 1911-380, feedback and reviews?

Dang, Tom, where were you when I spent years searching? :D

    Browning 1911-380, feedback and reviews?

I have the full length all black version of the 1911-380 and had one exactly like the picture above.I really like them both and they are easy to rack and operate. Both were extremely accurate. I couldn’t tell any accuracy difference in the two. I kept the black one and sold the pretty one to a...

If carrying a .380: Which One?

Compact package, very manageable recoil, small size, accurate, perfectly reliable, and a really nice pocket fit in a Sticky holster. I have had many many other .380’s, but this one is top shelf for CC. Alternate Underwood and Federal HP ammo. I really like my Browning 1911-380 and trust it after...

    Dillon customer service

Dillon CS and their products are the best, IMO. I have used a 550 for years and it has produced excellent results with no issues. I suspect the next generation, at least, will see the same.

IMR-4198 What calibers is it good for.

I have had outstanding results with 4198 in 45-70. The loads are strong and minimal muzzle flash in my Winchester 1886. Super fun to shoot and very accurate. 325gr Hornady FTX at 2100 fps and is about like shooting a 12 ga shotgun.

Powder for .45 colt in Rifle

I use Power Pistol for jacketed bullets and 231 for lead RNFP bullets, both 250 grain. Both provide excellent results. 1200 fps out of 24” rifle, 1050 fps out of 20” carbine, and 900 fps out of a revolver. Nice powerful load within SAAMI specs and no leading. Use a nice roll crimp. Used in...

Do you carry a gun because you are afraid?

My wife and I had a completely insane event occur on a biking/walking trail. Multiple folks were shaking theirs heads at this guy’s behavior and it shook my wife up a bit. We moved on and went back to our campsite. Although she normally does the eye roll thing about EDC, she asked me if I had...

    Officers sized 1911 pistol

I have had two officer sized Kimber 3” 45 ACP models and with Wilson Combat magazines have been outstanding from a reliability and accuracy standpoint. I couldn’t be more pleased. They have been reasonably priced, as well. I don’t think you could do better. The Colt’s are good, too, and will...

    Kimber K6S Target

I have both and have used both. I don’t see a lot of difference, really. I thought the combat grip would make a difference, but it’s minor.

    Kimber K6S Target

You can purchase a set of the slightly larger combat grips from Altamont. They fit well and give a slightly enhanced purchase on the grip. That’s an individual hand size and/or preference decision. I like both.

    Kimber K6S Target

I have the same Kimber firearm in a 3” model and I am quite pleased with the purchase. The sights are great, it shoots well, and is very accurate. It’s my favorite .357 and I really like the size and feel. I have one of the new Colt Pythons as well. The finish and style of the Python are...

    Time for a new 1911

I have had two Kimber 3” 45 acp models and both were/are flawless with Wilson Combat magazines. The Kimber supplied magazines in the ones I have were not up to the flawless cycling tests. They are very accurate as well. You can’t go wrong with a Colt as they hold their value well.

    My Final Mouse Gun

Smaug, I do not intend to carry the Browning and I don’t intend to shoot the BB in any quantity with it. I might shoot a magazine to see how it handles it, but that’s it. It’s a novelty pistol, really. That being said, it is a much better built or maybe more refined quality pistol than the Colt...

    My Final Mouse Gun

Buffalo Bore now makes a 25 acp cartridge that will easily outperform a .22 magnum in a short barrel. Most .22 magnum specs are in rifle barrels. In extremely light clothing, I have carried a NAA .22 magnum for years, but wanted something reliable and semi-auto to take its place. The NAA has...
