Go with the K-31. Accuracy is good, surplus ammo is currently available and it will be easier to reload for in the long run. Additionally you'll be hard pressed to find one that won't be a good shooter.

Two problems I have with the FAL are 1.) The forward sling swivel is mounted directly on the barrel which means that your point of impact will be affected when using the sling as a shooting aid and 2.) you need a screw driver to adjust windage on the rear sight.

Interesting thread. Currently I'm trying to improve the edge on my Condor 5" Basic Bushcraft knife. For me it's become more of lesson in freehand sharpening than anything else.
