As long as I'm wishing, a Swiss Stg57 for me!
Considering both where I live and what my SIG P49/210 cost me recently, I don't see one in my future. :-(
That would be nice, but I'm in CA and we can't have nice things (and I won't do those stupid paddle grips!) My M1 Garand and M1A Tanker are both shorter, though the Garand is roughly the same weight.
I've got plenty of other long rifles to keep the Persian company, most recently an 1895...
Some were actually made in Iran, at their Mosalsalsasi Arsenal using tooling provided by the Czechs at Brno. The classic Persian M1949 Mauser carbine was manufactured there, a model based on an earlier Czech M30 pattern carbine acquired in a 1938 contract [Mowbray & Puleo, Bolt Action Military...
Good points. Fired indoors, a Colt Dragoon would definitely get anyone's attention.
My usual bedside is a 'modern' S&W M1917, which takes the same loads as my wimpier Pietta conversions, only with +1 in a full-moon clip.
I wouldn't mind upgrading to an even more modern S&W, like a 625 JM --...
Rebutting reply #25? If so, I'll clarify: this reply was in regard to an earlier reply about factory Richards-type conversions as compared with drop-in cylinder conversions.
In their respective, overlapping heydays, both the original percussion revolvers and their varied cartridge conversion...
It kinda/sorta makes better economic sense where I live, thanks to CA legislative weirdness. You won't get more for your money, but you may actually end up spending slightly less on some combo options than any centerfire factory SAA.
As of today anyway, I can order a percussion revolver and...
Unless the revolver has a broken or underpowered mainspring, I stick with factory on S&W.
So far I've just bought "Wolffpacks" for my centerfire Ruger single actions. I can improve my groups a bit after lightening their SAA mainspring, so the gun doesn't jar so much when the hammer falls.
Mine did -- I had a 686 with a rounded butt that could swap grips with the 629.
I tried a number of different grip shapes. This photo shows my state of play back in 2018 before going all-Pachmayr:
Not intending to be pedantic, but I believe their Signature line is limited to autoloading pistols. If you're trying to find a set of these Pachmayrs for a revolver, the keyword to search for is Presentation.
I get these two product lines reversed all the time and always have to doublecheck...
I'm going to be sensible and let this one pass, but for those wanting an affordable double rifle who don't haunt Simpson's website this is a rare offering. In the double rifle world $2K is chump change -- it will probably be gone in no time!
BTW, I believe this model is less than 10 years old...
You can get one now through MGM if you pony up. I've had them do two Encore barrels for me and they were definitely worth the price, which is less than you might think.
I just ran their "build a barrel" app for a 17" stainless barrel in .30 Carbine and it came to $475...
In my own case, Drac's vid lead me to buy and read the book:
Willis "Ching" Lee was one heck of a rifle marksman, acting as an ad-hoc counter-sniper in the 1914 Veracruz incident and winning medals in multiple shooting disciplines at the 1920 Olympics.
