Love it CheifTJS! I have one of the same model that is unchanged from the factory and it has the nicest trigger pull of any GP I’ve pulled. Say, was the cylinder swap and direct drop in, or is some gunsmithing required?
Thanks
The only revolver I had that was chambered in .38 only was a Kimber K6S - I gave it to my Dad as he is having difficulty racking a slide- he likes it a lot. I have a bunch of .357 revolvers, however .38 special is my most shot cartridge currently— reloading is easy, relatively cheap and allows...
I think Tallball has your answer. Go get a used Ruger GP100 or SW 66 or 686 and have TK Custom machine the cylinder for 9 mm and moonclips. Now you have a very durable 9 mm plinker.
100 %, gnappi. I have found the same. I don’t like shooting semiautos as much as revolvers, so I have to put in more time to get for me, decent accuracy. As a consequence, I don’t shoot most semiautos as well as revolvers. I started with glocks but ended with smith and Wesson and Ruger...
I just picked up a set of Ameriglo Hackathorn sights for a glock 29, so that’s my vote. Have not installed them, but I have a feeling they’ll be better than the stock sights for my eyes.
Thanks for the review and update. I’ve been curious about the 327. Best thing to me is getting an extra round in a j-frame (ish) revolver. Please post up any follow-up experience!
I’ve not added powder to a 38 special reload and 10 mm reload and had a squib in a 4 inch 686 and Glock 29 barrel. I was able to easily pound out the bullet with a brass rod. The Glock was easier to fix as you can remove the barrel and work on it. The revolver involved removing the cylinder...
G 29 and G 20 for me. Like has been said already- they just work. They are one of a few brands that I’d feel comfortable having as my only firearm and trust it would hold up fine for weekly practice and regular carry duties without feeling like I want a spare backup firearm. (I’d do it anyway...
Just chiming in to say I don’t own any 9mms and love .40 and 10 mm. Reloading helps defray the cost of shooting more lead.
PS: regular practice makes one proficient in any caliber, regardless of bullet weight, recoil, etc.
Ps again- I don’t begrudge any guy or gal for their firearm and...
They are both wonderful guns! I’ve owned several 686s and GP100s. For whatever reason I just cotton to the GP100 more than the 686 and now have 2 x 3 inch and 1 x 4 inch GP100s. I love ‘em
Now, if we’re talking small snubs, I have a few J-frames and they also are near and dear to my heart, so...
Heck, I love my Glock 29. KKM .40 barrel and it’s like carrying an overbuilt .357 and stoking with .38s. When I want more feedback, put in the 10 mm barrel and do that. I generally though, save shooting 10 mm out of a Glock 20 or Sig p220 for more comfort for 55 y/o working mans hands...
