    Swedish M96

A couple of years ago a friend showed me this rifle and said he was going to sell it. I'm left handed so I try to steer away from bolt guns but this one spoke to me! It was manufactured in 1905 and almost looks new, it shoots great as the Swedish Mausers have a well deserved reputation of doing.

Chinese SKS $300 at Classic-worth it?

We use the ASC 20 round magazines in our 7.62x39mm AR carbines and they have worked with no problems for the almost five years we've had them.

Chinese SKS $300 at Classic-worth it?

I've been buying these little monsters since I got my first one for $89 in '91, it was a Norinco and I didn't keep it very long. I have since bought a couple of early Chinese Type 56 carbines (arsenal /26\ guns) and now we have three....a Chinese Type 56 ($275), a '53 Russian Tula ($450) and a...

    7.62x39 Hunting Ammo

The 7.62x39mm has been compared to the .30-30 Winchester cartridge, a proven deer & hog killer for many years.

Deer hunting rifle for 16 year old girl

You list great calibers, I have a 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser. The wife prefers it to shooting our Savage .270 (she's bagged several Whitetails with it) because of the vast reduction in recoil. So either a .243 or 6.5 Creedmore would be a good choice in my opinion.

    7.62x39 Hunting Ammo

Locals here in north Florida have good luck with the same round with deer and hogs, many of them shooting the SKS.

    7.62x39 Hunting Ammo

Some folks here in north Florida are bagging deer and hogs with the 154 grain Russian steel cased ammo with great success, and many of them are doing it out of an SKS. They like the compactness of it and ten semi-auto shots.

    Swedish Mauser Model 1896 Question

After I got my first Swedish 1905 M96 someone hooked me up to that sight, I have referenced it many times since then!

    My SKS carbines

I wouldn't dare knock the AK, I have absolutely nothing against them, I simply have no use for one Wishoot. The wife loves them however, maybe I'll get her one some day.

    My SKS carbines

That's a good looking Yugo, I hope you do buy it. It has a sharp looking stock!

    My SKS carbines

Those were the "good ol days" Bob, I bought my first SKS for $79. I had to laugh at what you said about using the bayonet in the field...I do that too!

    My SKS carbines

I got my first SKS in 1991 (commercial Norinco model) and have since owned six of them. Today I have a Russian 1953 Tula and a Yugoslavian M59/66A1, my wife owns a Chinese Type 56. They are fun and inexpensive to shoot, we have stocked up on ammo anywhere from 17¢ to 21¢ per round. Each of them...

SKS yugo 357 yards with no scope strap on still held zero

Fascinating and good shooting! I recently got an M59/66A1 and it's a great shooter although I haven't shot it over 100 yards. I have a Russian 1953 Tula and the wife has a Chinese Type 56. I have read the Yugo is the better shooter of the SKS firearms. People seem to be finding out the SKS...

    Swedish Mauser Model 1896 Question

There is record on this site run by a Swede, D.L.van den Brink showing Elm, Maple and Mahogany having been used in 1915, 1916 & 1917 but those are the only years indicated. For those not familiar with this web site there is a treasure trove of fascinating and informative info available. House...

    Brass, Aluminum and Steel ammo

Our range allows steel and aluminum cased ammo, I just will not fire steel cased ammo in anything but my SKS carbines. I have read the U.S. Army used steel cased ammo in the 1911 pistols during WWII but I'm not comfortable with shooting it in mine.

My Dad, a Veteran of WWII & the Korean War introduced me to the shooting sport, hunting, and fishing very early. I have several SKS carbines, a couple of bolt guns, a shotgun and a rimfire rifle & pistol. I am retired and frequent a range nearby at least a couple of times a month. The wife and I...
