I feel like I've owned just about every major 9mm made at one time or another. Many good ones out there. My main CCW and all around gun is a 3.8" XDM 9mm. Very accurate and does everything well.
Now if you asked me if I could only have one 9mm for the rest of my life, what would I choose...
I've owned the CZ 75b, 75b SA and SP01. All were/are range pistols for me. I liked the SA better but as you say it's the same "meh" trigger just in SA.
I resorted to turning my SP01 into a SA. I put a SA trigger and race hammer/sear kit from CGW on it and it's awesome! I VERY lightly...
The XDs is my small summer carry. It wears well in just about any light holster. I like it's slim size. I don't like the trigger but it's workable and has the great fiber optic front sight.
Mid-size guns fit my hand better (XDM and glock 19) and I shoot them better than my XDs. I prefer...
I currently have/had several sigs and a few H&K's (USP and p7's only). I don't like the HK triggers. If you weren't going to CCW I'd say P229 all day long. It points really naturally for me and shoots very well. If carrying a thicker pistol isn't a problem that's what I'd go with (as long as...
TRP without a doubt.....awesome finish, tight, VERY accurate and reliable. They have an aggressive grip that I like and the finish is really tough. I've owned a couple Dan Wesson 1911's just don't really prefer them. I haven't tried an STI though.
You already have a Sig might as well try a CZ. You really don't have anything to lose. The CZ's are fine guns...not as refined as the a Sig but a nice addition to any collection.
I've enjoyed playing with CZ's; CZ-75b and single action along with an SP01 Shadow. I've tweaked the triggers...
Elite SAO every day. The sigs fit my hand nicely and the BHP's (which I love) don't.
I've had fun tweaking the triggers on the BHP's to get them perfect.....which is a requirement if you want something that resembles a nice trigger on a BHP. I really love the design and the history of the...
I really loved the PT-145 I had. I've owned a half dozen Taurus pistols. The first time I had to call on a warranty issue I had so many problems with customer service that I sold them all and just wrote the company off my list.
They sell some decent stuff.....I just prefer to deal with a...
I've been blessed to own so many nice pistols....I'll buy something play with it for a while and get something else. I'm always in search of the "best" pistol for a specific purpose...home defense, target, plinking etc.
The X-5 L1 (the one I own anyway) is easily the most accurate 9mm...
Tried most
I've tried most. I've settled with a Springfield XDM 3.8 compact for my large and medium size 9mm carry (depending on what mag I want to use).
My small 9mm carry is a Walther PPS with or without a pinky extension mag.
I've tried so many carry pieces and these are the two...
I have a "73" 92fs Italian Inox. The finish is a bit nicer than the modern US ones I've had. I prefer the straight dust cover and metal parts also.
As far as accuracy....all have been very accurate...no difference.
Jerry
After shooting 100's of 9mm semi auto's, I've gotten rid of all but two of my target/range shooters. The X5 level 1 and a highly customized CZ-75 SP01. My other target/range shooters just paled so much in comparison they weren't getting any attention.
The X5 level 1 is very soft shooting...
Even if money wasn't a consideration I'd prefer the SA loaded. Nothing wrong with either one though. Considering your going to be making mods anyways I'd just be looking for a good, solid, platform to do it on.
I like Sigs....but they aren't my first choice for a 1911...go with the springer...
Dry firing
I should add: Although you don't want to dry fire a .22lr....try dry firing the heck out of your 9mm. It'll smooth out the trigger quite a bit and help your flinching problem.
You really have to be anal about following gun safety rules when dry firing obviously.
When dry...
22/45
I looked at both recently. I chose the standard 22/45 rather than the light. I noticed that when looking online the model 10150 pictures (standard 22/45)show fixed sights. Mine has adjustable sights and I'm fairly certain the more recent model 10150 22/45's have the adjustable rear...
I have both and like both. I've also tweaked both pistols to amazing precision. I'll agree that out of the box the Hi power is a better pistol and will maintain it's value.
That being said....my CZ is more accurate for me but if I could only keep one it'd be the high power.
You can do what i did. Sell the g19 and buy a g26. After that, purchase a grip extension and some G19 mags and you can carry it as a G26 or higher capacity g19.
SP01
I prefer the SP01...the CZ-75b SA is good too...all accurate as heck. The out of the box triggers on all my CZ's have been terrible. Gritty with quite a bit of trigger creep. I really don't understand why they can't improve the factory trigger.
I've modified my SP01 to SA only and...
