Can .32 S&W loaded with black powder pressure specs be purchased

The original load was 9gr of BP with a 85 lead bullet. With modern case, I think you will have less space for the powder. Just load with BP and a little bit semolina for made it touch the bullet : this will work ( I don"t promise anythink for accuracy ) with low pressure.

Warning: Physics Content! Penetration equations anyone?

    The API formula ( SD*Ke/S ) is a good all around formula. For game penetration, I find this formula, relatively near from the facts : 3*square root of ( W/7000/(C*(0,5+C))*V ) W = Weight ( grains ) C = Calibre ( inch ) V = Velocity ( ft/s ) It is just a empiric formula, not a...

Putting to rest a "Dirty Harry" myth.

I was thinking that "light special" refered to "44 magnum light special". This was the classical "police load" (240grX900-1000fps), in my mind. It would be a good load for police use, indeed. Moderate recoil, good penetration and stopping power. But, of course, the only one who said the true...

    Manurhin revolvers ?????

I dont think it has. If memory serves, interchangeables barrels are only for the MR93. By the way, some MR73 had interchangeables cylinders in 9mm. This was a Police request. But the idea was finally abandonned, because of a loss in accuracy and extraction problems with the 9mm.

    Manurhin revolvers ?????

The Manurhin MR73 (create in 1973) has the best double-action out-of-the box : a short 8# trigger pull. Only Korth can compare. And acurracy is very good. It still is the primary handgun for the french GIGN. The MR88 is a very differend kind of revolver. Basically, it is a copy of Ruger GP100...

    Leave it to the Germans....

I would prefer a Manurhin MR73 ( the best out-of-the-box double action ), but the Korth is a masterpiece equal in quality and efficiency. Otherwise, a well tuned S&W can be as good ( but not cheaper probably ).

    Your Obscure Pistols (Pics)

Yes, this old gun (1914) is to be load via the tip-up barrel only. An ingenious system, used many years after by Beretta. The big drawback of this gun : an heavy DAO trigger.

    Don't Bring a .25 to a Gunfight

The .45ACP is a whimpy caliber ! I have seen myself a guy shot 5 times with .45FMJ : a was still alive, conscient , and would have been able to use a gun ( if he had one ). :neener: Remember, guys : first rule of gunfight : have a gun ( a .25 is better than nothing ) first factor of...

How Popular Were Single-Shot Pistols Before the Civil War?

Revolvers were popular because of their capacity ( 6 shots are better then only one ). But one shot pistols offered more power ( you could have .58 cal. pistols ). That's the reason why one/2 shots pistols were still in use even in the 80's.

    Police Service Revolvers

Manurhin MR73 .357 mag 4". Why ? Because it has a out-of-the-box 8 pounds short trigger. It's a pity the french Police don't use it no more... Only G.I.G.N refuse to stop to use it : MR73 is still their primary handgun.

What in your opinion is the greatest factor in stopping power?

This is the original question MikePGS ask. So we all know bullet placement is the key. In my opinion, the first must is penetration ( 12" of gelation penetration seems good for me ). Second, making the bigger hole possible... There is many variations on the way to obtain the best...

So why not a bottleneck cartridge in a revolver?

Bottleneck cartridges in revolver are not a new idea. For powerfull ones, look at the Gary Reeder's creations ( http://www.ravenammunition.com/cartridge_description.htm ).

Which 9x19mm Luger cartridge(s) to test against auto glass and gelatin?

124gr FMJ because it's my duty load, and because many shooting occurs whith bad guy inside a car ( and having rifles, so we need to shoot them before they shoot us ! ).

    Ballistic gelatin test results : .45-70GOV >DERRINGER<

Impressive, for such a short barrel. By the way, at short range, it's a flamethrower, too.

    Round Balls In CTG Case

Loading round balls In CTG case is an old idea. French people using french 1873 revolver use it a lot, with good accuracy. This is only for short range ( 25 yds ), because of the round ball, but it can be very accurate at this range if you find the good load. The long 45 Colt ctg may need a...

Question About PPK & PPK/S - Model Availability & Trigger Pull Weight

Good gunsmith can reduce trigger pull. I've seen a smooth 10lb DA trigger pull on a PPK/S. But this need competent gunsmith, time and money. 12lb is heavy, but is manageable with training and considering that this gun is for short range self-defense. A choice to think about. Otherwise, I do...
