Been using my CC Breech Lock for 5 years now & every time it's the same thing. The first spent primer hits the floor, reminding me to install the primer arm !! You'd think I'd remember by now !!!
I have a very limited supply of Trail Boss left, so I've been using Universal. 6.7-7 grains pushing a MBC 200gr rnfp.
For a BP sub you might want to try Triple 7. Not very corrosive, so you don't have to run home & clean your revolver right away.
I had the same problem with a Lee .308 Collet die. Crushing Lapua brass. Bought a Redding Collet die & problem disappeared.
Not knocking Lee, a lot of my equipment is Lee & work just fine.
I have a Savage Axis .308 that I worked up a very accurate load @ 44 grains of Varget pushing a Sierra 168 gr MK. Never seen any signs of pressure, and with a Witt muzzle brake, it's very comfortable to shoot.
Before that I was loading 42.8 gr of IMR 4064 with the same bullet with similar...
For .308 I really like Sierra 168 grain Matchkings. I've tried Hornady, Berger & even Lapua(Love their brass). But Sierra seems most consistent. For 45 Colt I like MBC 200 gr. rnfp Coated.
