    California Vehicle Transportation/Carry

WayneinFL, I hope you don't think I have hijacked your OP but you asked a very pertinent question since I'll be driving to CA soon (just got back from a trip to the beautiful state of FL). I also have three ccws, one being my home state. To the responding members, Thanks for your valuable insights.

    California Vehicle Transportation/Carry

Thank you for the info. I read the penal code and am curious as to what the term "temporarily in California" means. I will be driving to California for a family event and will be staying at a relative's home for a few nights while there. While driving, I keep my handgun in a locked box with a...

Our Founding Fathers' perspective on citizens and guns.

Sunnyslope,Sunnyside, Thank you for your informative post. If verified, this should definitely be made a sticky along with similar statements made in state constitutions. In my opinion times may change, but basic human nature never does.

South Carolina Now Permitless Carry State

This is the bill I struggled through the other night. I understand that we should be knowledgeable of our laws, but they sure don't make it easy for the common layman who doesn't possess a law degree. As a matter of fact lawyers themselves at times disagree with meaning.

South Carolina Now Permitless Carry State

Thank you for the replies. In my limited understanding, most of what I read seems to be in reference to SC residents or residents from other states that have reciprocity with SC. I am not covered by my FL permit because I am not a resident, nor am I covered by my NJ permit because there's no...

South Carolina Now Permitless Carry State

I read through the bill last night. I am a NJ resident and have a NJ permit to carry, along with a FL permit. Planning a trip soon and will be spending a night in SC. Does this mean I can carry in SC? Thanks in advance for any info.

    My 24/7 came home yesterday

Hope you are able to get back up on your feet to do the stuff you want to do. Good orthos are hard to find and hopefully, you have found one. And another thing, sounds like that grandson of yours was raised up right.

Missed out on a $1200 Kimber Gold Combat Stainless 2 … by 1 minutes

Mark_Mark, Sorry you missed it, but if I were you, whenever you're feeling down about missing the deal just go look in your safes and admire the plethora of premium pistols you do have.

Anyone keep a yearly round count?

I have a basic spreadsheet showing date, gun used, brand/grains/type/number of rounds fired for each session, along with the total amount. I will include a brief note if any problems like ftf. I do this so I know how often each has been shot, and possible wear such as recoil springs etc. I also...

    GP100 MC Grip suggests?!?!

I have the original type rubber grip with wood inserts that I got from Chig's grips. My fingers didn't line up with the original rubber finger groove grip and I would have to frequently readjust my grip. I sure would be interested in trying that Hogue without grooves though.

Meant to post this back on Christmas

What an incredible gift, and I don't mean the 1911! To me, the thoughtfulness and time you invested in your friendship is worth much more.

    Beretta Handguns

Have you had a chance to handle one? I think the APX A1 compact is a very good gun at a great price point and would probably have one myself except for the 'bump' at the bottom of the grip. Now you got me thinking I should have picked one up when they were selling for $200ish with the rebate...

What was once lost is now found. :)

I bet that was some great news. Heck, I would have sent her palm tree seedling too. Hope and pray that all is well with you and your wife.

Took a Berkeley girl shooting today!

I think it was a good idea to have her shoot the 642. I have no issue with mine, but sometimes people think smaller is better until they actually shoot one.

    GP100 MC Spring Kit?

Iowegan's book of knowledge is an excellent resource. Also check out Mcarbo's videos. I had quite a few rounds through my GP100 before working on it. Did no stoning, only flitz. Pay particular attention to the trigger return spring channel. I had to use a 3/8" drill bit wrapped with sandpaper to...

    Henry 22lr sight removal

That's the plan. Either that or shim it with a washer. Thanks.

    Henry 22lr sight removal

Figured I'd let you guys know I changed out the sights on my Henry. I broke down and picked up a set of precision screwdrivers and the 3/32" slotted fit the rear sight set screw which came out easily. Took about 20 minutes, taking my time, to change over to the hiviz lite pipes. Only issue I...

    Henry 22lr sight removal

Thanks DMW1116, I don't have the barrel band on the front sight, just the screw so that should be quick. It's that little set screw I'm concerned about so I'll put a drop of penetrating oil on it. I've done some basic smithing on some of my handguns, and I know this is pretty simple, but that...

    Henry 22lr sight removal

Thanks a5werkes, the front sight hood slides off so no issue there. I have some hollow ground screwdrivers, but that slot on the rear sight screw is razor thin, and shallow. I'm guessing it's a set screw, just don't want to bugger it up. The dovetail overlaps both sides of the barrel so I'm...
