You reminded me of a read about WWI from years ago. When our boys were using aircraft powered by the LaRhone engine which used petrol mixed with castor oil it was said that who the pilots drank so much was to curb the effects of breathing the engine exhaust mixture. As a person who used to fly...
This is exactly what I use for lube formula too. Been working great for probably 8 years. No stuck cases which I have had with other methods.
I reload on a progressive press but do it in two passes. First pass: remove primmer, resize and bell mouth of case. Second Pass finish reloading.
I do...
I did a test with several bullets and several powders a couple of week ago with my AR-15 style pcc. It has a 16 inch faxon light barrel.
Best load at 50 yards with 10 shot groups was RMR 124 grain match winner. 5.0 grains of Winchester WSF. CCI 500 primers and S&B cases.
10 shot group was 1.950...
The checkering separates the men from the boys. It's been 20 years since I checkered a front strap on a 1911.
Nice job
I love a good 1911 and excellent accuracy. Mine when all done would do 2 inches at 50 yards but from a Ransom Rest.
This is fun. I'm having a ball just watching your progress. I wanted to play with a 3D printer for quite a while just never jumped. Now I can let you show me the ropes.
Keep the pictures coming.
Better than watching TV.
A little like my first decent handgun. Dad give me a baby calf (bull), as he was a dairy farmer and only wanted a heifer calf. I raised that calf and used the money to buy a Ruger 357 Blackhawk.
I remember the Ruger's going for $87.50 but when I had sold the now grown calf and gotten the money...
Mine started about 1968 when I got a Ruger 357 Blackhawk. I was just a sophomore in high school. Mom had to sign for it. I bought one box of WW 357's with the Lead 158 grain bullets. I think the cost was $3.50. Way too much for my back account . A friend gave me 100 rounds of spent 38 special...
You are a man after my heart. I think we are "Brothers from another Mother". For my 10th birthday my Mom bought me a used record player and the Marty Robbins album with Big Iron on it.
It wasn't gunfighter ballad album but the one with "White sport coat and "Don't worry" along with westen songs...
I use 452AA in 9mm. 5.0 grains with RMR 115gr FMJ gives me my most accurate target load I have used. Recoil impulse is not near as snappy as some other loads I have used.
I bought about 14 pounds in the mid 80's for use in 45 ACP but never used it. My load of 231 was good enough, so I just...
Now you're talking my past. Dad bought a used 1968 AMC Javelin for us kids to drive to school. It had the 232 I6 (all show and no go). After high school he gave it to me. It was my intention to drive it to my 20 year school reunion. Didn't quite make it. Bought a 1980 Mazda RX-7. Did give the...
My results almost mirror yours.
I use H&G 68 cast with alloy of 1 pt lino to 2 parts ww. Sized .452 in Star Lubrisizer. I use my own lube made from a 5 gallon bucket of Alox purchesed about 30 years ago and beeswax from local beekeeper. This is in a series 70 Colt that has been tricked out. OAL...
In my Sig 210 best I have used so far is RMR 115 fmj rn and Old WW 452aa. Very nice recoil impulse spanked by 5.0 grains.
I have also tried BE-86, Silhouette and Wsf. Noticeably snapper recoil with the first two. I have tried 5.0 grains of Wsf and want to play around with it more.
I think the...
I that GI Pawn?
When I was doing heavy haul I would stop there on occasion when Hornady stopped selling their seconds at the factory.
I sure miss the prices I got on those seconds.
GI Pawn seemed to have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Since I no longer drive semi those sojourns into...
i have used CCI magnum primers with HS-6 and it worked very well. Accuracy was one of the better I tested....so all in all pleased with the results.
I was looking for velocity and using 124 gr RMR hollow point bullets if that is helpful.
Do you get better accuracy results with BE-86 or Silhouette. Mostly interested in 9mm Luger. Handgun and PCC
I seem to get really good results with old Winchester 452AA in the handguns for target loads.
I bought my Star in the early 1970's. Had to wait a year from the time I ordered it to get it. I understand their main business was making sprinkler parts for water irrigation systems for use in Southern California. I believe they tooled up for the machine during the great depression.
I talked...
