What's your preferred every day carry?

While I usually carry a semi auto, I'm not a fan of anything with big cuts in the slide. It's just that much greater chance of crap falling in and causing a failure. I know some folks like the bling factor though. And yes, I actually work with a gun on my hip. Clearing brush, chainsawing, etc.

    Lee 125 gr cast bullets

It's not the Lee RNFP, but I have a mold for a 125 grain SWC (Accurate 36-125K) and it does very well in my 4" S&W model 28, 4"Ruger Security Six, several different model 10s, and a 20" Rossi 92. In .357 mag brass, I typically load 10 grains of Power Pistol, and in .38 brass I load 4.5 grains...

    .357 Magnum Rifle

The main reason a .357 mag fired from a .357 Max chamber doesn't do so well in the accuracy department is mainly because the difference in OAL between .357 mag and .357 max is pretty big. On the other hand, the difference between OAL of .38 special and .357 mag isn't nearly as much. I always...

Trying to decide on only one bullet for 357

No intention to chasten here. I just think it makes sense to split off what seems to be a new thing. I would love to hear about 2 MOA revolvers, but I think it's safe to say this is completely different from plinking loads.

Trying to decide on only one bullet for 357

I think we need to get back on track here. The MOA revolver issue should be a separate thread for those concerned. The original post was related to plinking and target loads for 38/357. His intention is one bullet (125 grain) and trying different powders to come up with a good load. Maybe...

    Winchester 244

If you're considering Accurate #5 and #7, definitely look at the comparable Shooters World versions of those powders, Auto Pistol and Major pistol, respectively.

Sig Xten 165gr gold dot reloads

I've loaded the 165 grain Gold Dot over 10 grains of Longshot and it shot very well in both of my Springfield XDms. From what little I've read, it sounds like the Xten has good chamber support, so I'd expect your 10 grain load to work just fine. 10.5 grains may be getting a little on the hot...

Trying to decide on only one bullet for 357

The beauty of handloading is that we can get as complex or as simple as our own needs dictate. I've got three major bullets that I load for .38/.357. The RCBS 38-150-SWC (which has previously been mentioned in this thread as a great bullet, and I completely agree), a 125 grain SWC (Accurate...

    GOOD GUN GREASE...

No worries--gun lube for some strange reason is a religious subject here, and some folks get way too serious about it. Believe it or not, pretty much anything works for gun lube, and despite all the gloom and doom, appropriate greases do work beautifully as gun lube. I made reference to NLGI...

    GOOD GUN GREASE...

The OP has clearly never read any of the threads here on THR about gun lubes. Simply waving a small container of "grease" near a firearm will immediately render it inoperable. Because there is only one type of grease, and God created it with the intention that it would harden like glue...

    Glock Oiling, How Dry

You keep bringing up things that are not relevant to the original post. I get what you're saying about the need for better lube on steel vs. Aluminum surfaces. I do typically provide better lube for my aluminum framed handguns. However, that has absolutely nothing to do with your original...

Where are the cast bullets?!? :)

    Carry Safety

Yep, that's exactly right. In Alaska (and I expect in most states as well) if you and a buddy commit a felony, and your buddy stumbles and cracks his skull on something and dies as a result, you get charged with felony murder. Thanks for posting this--I had no idea there could be the concept...

    Glock Oiling, How Dry

No, not really. I think you must have read a different post entirely before you replied to mine. I mentioned light oiling and cleaning. I never said anything about lubing the firing pin or channel, so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up. Maybe others have said that, but I never have...

As a bullet caster, my dreaded time approaches!

I've bought lead from RMR before as well--it's good stuff. It's definitely much cleaner to melt into ingots than wheel weights, that's for sure.

    Leaning Towards a Springfield 9mm XDM-Elite

I'm pretty happy with both my XDMs. One is an earlier model, and the other is an "Elite". On the Elite I ditched the mag well, and I was then able to use the standard XDM mags with no problem. I will probably look into replacing the sights though, since I'm not very happy with those. They...

Bayonet on rifle? Yes or No?

Bayonets and battle rifles go together like peas and carrots. You just can't have one without the other. I tried to attach my chainsaw to my M1 years ago, but I found that it threw off the balance too much. It also required way too much duct tape.

    Carry Safety

I always thought "felony murder" was also a pretty dumb term. Who ever heard of misdemeanor murder?

    Glock Oiling, How Dry

I'm not really clear on why Glocks should be treated differently than any other gun when it comes to lube. A little light oiling, and regular cleaning and the thing should run like a top.

The .44M 240XTP with Unique powder, Rossi R92

I shoot midrange .44 mag through my Rossi 92, as well as my revolvers, and one of my favorites is 10 grains of Unique with any 240 to 260 grain bullet. I think you'll be very happy with 10 grains of Unique and a 240 grain XTP.
