Large pistol magnum primers in rifles

yes most the mag pistols can operate in excess of 40KPSI, the Euro CIP for 44mag is 40.5k or so itself. Hodgon data for 475 linebaugh also uses LPP at almost 50k psi.

Large pistol magnum primers in rifles

Not true from the pressure point of view. Large pistol primers will operate well over 35kpsi... most magnum pistol cartridges do. And for freedom arms/ruger only loads etc over 50 KPSI. Lever action pistol cartridges in a 94 or 92 rossi will run equal pressures to 444 marlin or 30-30 too.

Large pistol magnum primers in rifles

Hi gents, here in Australia we are having a primer shortage so I wondered if anyone has used large pistol magnum primers in rifles before. I know there are differences in the thickness, toughness and brisance of rifle and pistol primers in general and its not something I would normally enterain...

    calling 22 hornet guys

Whats the low down on this calibre these days fellas. Ive used quite a bit of 22WMR over the years, not much 223rem though. Was thinking of getting a 22 hornet to extend the range and power of my 22mag hunting( small game, occasional small hog head shooting- controlled conditions over night...

    Higher pressure loads for 50AE

Hi folks, is there any data out there for single shots or strong actions capable of 48-50KPSI in this case? Im looking to get a 50AE done on a bolt action and there is a lot of margin between its normal 36,000 PSI and what a bolt can handle. I wont be running it full tilt, figured 50kpsi keeps...

Brian Pierce 44magnum +P Redhawk only loads

Thanks PO2Hammer much appreciated. And for the offer of mailing a copy if the pic didnt work, very genersous. Well some of those loads are heavy! Suprised at VV-N110 beating H110 velocities...using less powder. I have some of that stuff, going to give it a try. Looks like everything is seated...

What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

I got some Vihtavuori N110 powder and 240 and 300 xtp projectiles for my 44 mag. Normally load Alliant 2400. Apparently N110 is closer to H110 for power. Certainly the load data looks to be, 1500fps+ with 240 grains in a revolver is top tier. And 1300fps+ with the 300xtp! Will work some loads...

Brian Pierce 44magnum +P Redhawk only loads

Hi all, Im trying to get a copy of this article from Handloadermagazine #265 from April 2010. Was prepared to subscribe and pay the $10 for this issue but couldnt figure out if its an electronic copy they provide? Im not in the US so not overly interested in waiting weeks for a hard copy if...

    Are Bullpups the future?

two of the problems with bullpups is muzzle flash and noise. They kill night vision better than any other gun type with that muzzle so close to your face. Hunting it dont matter but tactically this one was of the issues. Similarly the blast of a 223 which in a short barrel 223 is bad enough is...

300 grain nosler vs xtp in 44

I had a chance to pick some of these up and wondered how they compare to the 300 gn xtp. I found the 300 XTP's quite a tough bullet, even at the same impact velocity as the 240 xtp they expand less. Wondered if the 300 gn nosler HP tend to open up more or less?

Who hunts big game with a 44mag

Just curious, I probably never will with a revolver but interested to hear stories about anyone taking big game with their 44 wheelgun. Big game is open to interpretation but lets say the big bears, heaviest deer, moose and bovine species.

    why not a bullpup?

I shot a steyr AUG quite a bit. Only thing I didnt like was the noise. The muzzle is only 18" from your ears and the ejection port right under your ear.

    .44 Goldilocks Load

Unique, CFE pistol, Universal even Win 231 can be pushed hard enough to get to decent sub-magnum levels. Blue dot does it a lot easier of course.

    Barbarian, Berserker, Boogeyman, or Bear

44 special +P, so to speak. 200grain gold dot, 1000fps.

    "Budget" spotting scopes?

I used to collect them. How I find it works is you have these levels 1. Complete chinese garbage 2. Decent entry level chinese stuff 3. Higher level chinese stuff and sometimes sold as the cheaper models in known names like Leupold, Athlon, Vortex, even Kowa has a chinese made model these...
