Thanks for the info on having issues with bullet seating depth on a converted military 98. The mauser action I used is a converted military ( 43 byf Mod 98 ). The trigger guard is off a 1909 Argentine 30-06. Wanteded the hinged floor plate. I haven't had any issues so far. I'll definitely keep...
When I loaded for 28ga I didn't adjust the wad seating station when going between 3/4 & 13/16 loads. I didnt find it necessary. My loader may have been setup different than yours. I also used a mec 600jr
I greatly appreciate the replies. The only 162gr I've got is some hornady interlock btsp. I do have some 140 nosler ballistic tips and corelokts. For powders I've got win 760, rl19, accurate 4350, & ramshot big game. The 4831 I've got is old and I'll only use it for range sessions. I'm...
So back in July of 21 told you guys that I dropped my mauser off to get it turned into a 280 remington. Finally got the rifle back late last year. I just finished my barrel break in while forming some lc 30-06 once fired. I made roughly 60 pieces. I also have a bag of 50 new winchester nickle...
I've thought of that. Just don't have any 32cal bullets. If I decide to go the reboring/ chambering route it'd probably be 35/30-30ai. Since I already have 35cal bullets. I reload for 35rem and 35 whelen.Talked to a gunsmith about having it done in standard 35/30-30. I'm a big fan of 35 caliber!
Been looking at having the 30-30ai done to a savage 340. The idea of a mag fed intrigues me. I tried using pointed bullets out of it as a standard 30-30 and wasn't impressed. Maybe the ackley would do better.
The 7x57ai would be done either a 99 arisaka, 96 mauser, or 98 mauser. I like old...
I'm still interested in a couple of ai cartridges. Looking at 7x57ai and 30-30ai in particular. I'm curious what could be done with these cartridges using modern components. Essentially components and tech that were not available to ackley. I looked at 280ai but went with standard 280 on my last...
Unfortunately I didn't buy the old wildcat manual. Wish I had. It was printed in the 50's or 60's, I think. Just looked on amazon and ebay couldn't find it.
I also have those P.O. Ackley books. Interesting reading. If their's an ackley cartridge I'm interested in I usually start their and expand my research out. The 280ai is now a standardized catridge. Nosler and Hornady both have load data for it. I went with the standard 280 when I had my rifle...
I voted for the 150's. Primarily because all 3 of bolt 06's prefer them. All 3 have 03A3 barrels in them. 2 mausers and an 03A3. They all like the standard military ball loads. I've gotten bang flop out of multiple calibers from 12ga, 20ga, 243, 30-30, 30-06, and 35 rem. Some with reloads others...
I wouldn't mix load data for different makes/brands of hulls. What they were originally loaded with shouldn't really matter as long as they were shot shells.
Paying attention to the hulls construction is wise. I'd wait on loading the 1's with the plastic base wad until you find data for that...
