I've had my first borescope for a month or two now, and you may be right - I'll probably never use it to diagnose trouble, but I HAVE already used it to tell me when I'm done cleaning; no longer will I go by that old (and indirect) advice "when the patch comes out clean". Now I can clean until...
Founder's Ranch is closed, but only the rifle and pistol bays; the shotgun area is still open. In their newsletter, they claimed that this was "a business decision that will allow Founder's Ranch to remain central New Mexico's premier shooting sports facility". I emailed them and asked them how...
I've been looking for an opportunity to reduce the size of my collection, and this is a good time. All of what I'm auctioning is as common as dirt, but I'm tending to get what I paid, or a little more, which for me, is unprecedented.
Anybody out here? Anybody know what the deal is with Founder's Ranch? Where do you shoot? I've got an orientation scheduled at Big Horn, but I don't like the idea of having to join the NRA to do it.
Hello all,
Jeff here. I used to lurk and post on THR a lot in its early days (does Oleg still run the show?), but you know, you change lanes now and then on the road of life. My shooting life was at a complete standstill for several years, but now I've begun to take an interest again. I...
Woo Hoo! From Lew Horton via email:
"Dear Jeff,
The gun you have is indeed a Lew Horton's gun. It was made for us by Smith & Wesson's Customs Shop in December of 1985, and is one of approximately 1260 made between 1985 and 1986. Hope this helps you out!"
I've searched THR for a definitive way to identify one, and I still can't tell. It's a RB mod. 29 with a 3" barrel. The serial no. is ALB5427 (the ALB prefix sounds promising, if I'm reading right). The grip is a Hogue monogrip. I have no original papers or box. Thanks.
If that hole in the bottom of the receiver is indeed a gas vent, would you want to use one of the single-shot (presumably solid-bottomed) lowers? Wouldn't you be better off with a hole there, i.e., a mag well?
Just an opinion for your consideration...
I know all the gun safety classes tell you to wait 30 seconds on a misfire, but if you're planning on training for home defense, you won't want to be standing around for that long doing nothing. You may want to consider getting into the habit of...
A couple that I think were compliments, each in its own roundabout way.
1. Took my teenage nephew shooting; I was shooting my M1 (looped into the 1907 sling) at some steel plates at the 200 yard range. I don't know how big they were, but they were smaller than the front sight. I missed a few...
Why is the answer always a lawsuit? Throwing good money after bad? Where's the personal accountibility? The worst that could possibly happen to this perp is to make the taxpayers cover for him.
Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that she was no-billed by the grand jury. That she was no-billed by a grand jury means she went before one, which is outrageous.
1. The fact that I have to ask permission at all.
2. The wait. 100 days, and the law says you can't submit the renewal more than 60 days prior to the expiration.
3. That the blue perps are illegally getting the info that you're a permit-holder through DMV when they run your driver's...
