My first AR pistol on the way. No idea why.

I don't believe I've ever sworn to serve the government. The Constitution, certainly. And that "weird" feeling you describe indicates thoughtfulness about the difference. Thank you for that, and your service. To business: I'm in the same boat about the AR platform - I don't own either an AR...

Beretta 92X Performance vs Sig Sauer P226

I look forward to the comparison. A good Beretta is a bucket list item for me.

    The Blackest Black Rifle?

It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black.

    New Ruger MAX-9

I've been shocked at how available these are - the two local stores I frequent, both Academys in town, everybody has them in stock just below MSRP. My uninformed speculation is that it looks like both Ruger and Smith made lots and lots of their new offerings before unveiling them.

    New Ruger MAX-9

This was my general reaction as well - the MAX is actually aesthetically pleasing to me. It's my first actual Ruger purchase. And, since it's got the optic cut, it's about to lead me to finally take a little step into the world of red dot sights.

    New Ruger MAX-9

Took my new Max-9 to the range for the first time today. With the 12 round magazine I can get all three fingers on it, and the grip is indeed more stout than the P365. I think I might prefer it, in fact. The trigger is nicer than I expected. Smooth - I didn't find the mush I was...

    New 9mm's out

I've thought seriously about the shield for quite a while - glad I dithered so long now. Very interested in the new shield.

    new G43X

Very nice. That's pretty definitely going to be my next purchase. I'd be very interested to hear your assessment of the trigger pull after your mods.

    New on GunBroker

That's what I've found as a new seller. Buyers seem surprised when I respond right away and answer questions, send another pic they want, etc. I thought I'd really be fighting an uphill battle as a new seller, but I've done okay simply because I'm willing to communicate and demonstrate that...

    New Walther revealed early

"Well, if it's "tactile" it must be good and well worth the money." I see what you did there.

    New Walther revealed early

I've never owned a Walther, but have a high opinion of the brand. I have always assumed I'd get to at least one of the several models on my wish list. But I find myself rolling my eyes at how over-the-top all that marketing language is. Maybe I'm not their target audience.

    My new Kimber

    Congrats - that's gorgeous.

    007 and his Walther PPK

I can't deny that the PPK is printed on my mind as the coolest thing in the world from the films. What do we think of the quality/reliability of the PPK/S being produced currently?

I'd sure love to carry my P365 comfortably.

Thanks for the benefit of your experience. A similar thought process leaves me very attracted to the idea of trying the Sig P290RS. And now thinking about the LC9, as mentioned above.

I'd sure love to carry my P365 comfortably.

Yep, that is all perfectly rational. The problem is between my ears, I'm afraid. The voices of my grandfather and his brothers who taught me to shoot, and who made sure I was cautious to a fault. My brother-in-law the federal agent/combat vet chimed in with, "well, keep practicing and...

I'd sure love to carry my P365 comfortably.

With peace of mind, that is. I like appendix carry, and I love my 365. I shoot it well. I just have that lingering feeling in the back of my mind that it's too light a pull. I don't have a problem with trigger discipline or anything, but I don't have an LE or military level of drill under my...

2020 gun purchases, I think I went overboard a bit

For me I made more acquisitions than usual, but I am very thankful to this forum for helping me re-calibrate what "overboard" is. Early in the year I randomly encountered a visiting German engineer who asked me for directions - I guess he somehow sensed that I know just enough German to help...

What are your next 5 gun purchases?

    1. Glock 43x. I just don't think I'll be able to resist the urge get it, to really compare and contrast with my P365. And I've never owned a Glock, so it'll be a new experience. 2. Something AR15ish, but I'm appallingly ignorant about the platform, so I don't yet know what it will be. Got to...

New Member? Introduce yourself here (just intros, questions get answered elsewhere)

Hi folks, I've been lurking for a while, thought it was time to be a little more social and participatory. My time for this hobby has increased dramatically in the last year, as my other hobby (playing music for people congregating in groups) has been pretty well sidelined. I've enjoyed getting...
