I'm in the demographic you are describing and I've made my decision. I shoot and enjoy my guns as much as possible. As a matter of fact, I do my level best to enjoy everything in my life as much as possible.
The closer I get to the end of my story the more I realize the futility of planning...
I've never used one or seen one used. When I'm trying to go fast I leave a trail of empty magazines and stuff behind me on the ground. I'm not going to take the time to stow or put anything away except a gun that must be safe and grounded before I move on.
A belt style shotgun shell carrier will work well. Uncle Mikes make one for around $20. It holds 25 rounds which you just may need for bigger stages. Check Brownells for a belt mounted kydex mag carrier for your rifle mag. They can be had for around $30. Uncle Mikes Kydex holster for your hand...
I have one and like it. It's a fun toy especially with the 33 round Glock magazines. One of the clubs I shoot at has a pistol caliber carbine match that is held with their USPSA and IDPA matches. It's big fun to shoot IDPA or USPSA stages with the Kel Tec.
It's not very left hand friendly if...
It may be a bit far for you to drive but this club puts on some outstanding multigun matches:
www.pcsirange.com
It's in Circleville, OH. I drive 3 hours, one way, to get there and I've never been disappointed. The first '10 match will be in April.
I use one of the 1100 Tac 4's for multigun matches and it is very reliable. However, my bedroom gun is an 870. While the 1100 is very reliable, the 870 is absolutely reliable.
My most used Glock (G34) has 13,000 + rounds through it with nothing done except to change the recoil spring every 5000 rounds. Naturally, it gets cleaned after every match but that's it.
I use a G21 in CDP and one of my shooting partners just bought a G21 SF also for CDP. There is no down side but it sure is fun to beat the Glock hating 1911 bigots.
Hi Bud and welcome aboard it's always good to run into another hillbilly brother on the internet.
I'm not sure what the correct answer is to your question but I can offer a suggestion. Go to the West Virginia Citizens Defense League (WVCDL.org) and ask. There are some members there who are...
I reload on a Dillon 550. It's pure economics for me. It's a chore that I don't get any pleasure or enjoment from doing. I rate reloading somewhere between getting a root canal and painting the house.
I've done 3K of centerfire rifle rounds and just over 3K of various pistol rounds this year...
There's nothing wrong with your choices but........
I'm going to suggest you get a removable carry handle upper instead of the fixed, A2, upper. Eventually, you are going to want to add some sort of optic. With the A2 upper your options will be limited and less than ideal. With the removable...
I have not dealt with Will in 2 or 3 years but he has built 3 AKs for me from kits over the years. Each turned out great and the SA85 (built from an outstanding kit) is one gun that will never be sold or traded while I'm on this side of the grass. The work was great and the price was fair...
IDPA is the gateway drug. Once you try it you just have to have more and more to reach the same level of "internal satisfaction". This is sort of like pot. It seems harmless and fun at first but then.......
Next, like all addicts, you'll move on to the harder stuff like USPSA. This is...
Good for you. New shooters are universally welcome at every club I've ever visited. I hope you have as much fun with IDPA as I do.
I'm just curious, what pistol did you use and did you have any reliability issues?
For IDPA, 2 - G34s, 1- G21. All with the same fiber optic front sights and Lone Wolf 3.5 # trigger bars and trigger jobs. Consistency works best for me.
For carry, G19 and G26 also with the 3.5 # Lone Wolf trigger bars and night sights on each.
The 34s have had thousands of trouble free...
The very best, most useful, thing I do with my AR15 is to shoot 3gun and Multigun matches. I've used the AK and FAL platforms and by far the AR is a much better choice for these events. There's a reason the AR platform is the gun of choice of nearly all 3 gunners.
If you don't plan to compete...
As a fairly regular "hillbilly" visitor to P.C.S.I. I would encourage everyone to come out and give the Multigun events a try. I drive 3 hours, one way, to get there and I've never been disappointed.
Michael puts on a good match and beginners will get plenty of help and encouragement from the...
