Those kits are kinda on the expensive side also the charcoal is only good for fireworks. It makes slow dirty powder. It is not crazy to make your own powder just be careful.

Weaver leather has good tools and great how to videos. Springfield leather has good tools and better prices mostly. I use both alot.

They did not say but looks like pine/fir. Different uses use different woods. Willow and cedar (soft) are use for blackpowder.
