    Armalite AR 24 thoughts?

I've spent quite a bit of time with the Sarsilmaz Kilinc while in Turkey. I've also owned and shot CZs for many years. My impression is that the fit and finish of the Kilinc is a bit better than the CZ-75B. The trigger is also noticeably smoother. Accuracy and feel are about the same. My...

Why your gun should be fully loaded

Since this forum is supposed to be about tactics... I have to wonder why you would hold the leash in your strong hand  If I have to tie up one of my hands, I would always go with the weak hand. Frees up the strong hand to do other (potentially more important) stuff. Just a thought :)

If James Bond were an american...

If Bond were an American back in the 1960's and 70's, I bet he'd be packing a 4" S&W M19 just like the rest of the CIA/FBI guys back then.

    favorite gun quotes

I think the quote in my sig says it best. It's been almost 250 years since Beccaria penned those words. Yet, so many people haven't figured this out yet.

    Church shootings and Bushmaster

That's funny, I've never seen a Bushmaster assault rifle at my local Dick's Sporting Goods. Are these full auto or 3-shot burst? :neener: I get so sick of these newsmedia folks calling any black gun an "assault rifle." Either they're too lazy to do their research, or they're...

What are your OTHER expensive hobbies besides guns?

Nice Rex. I have a similar car...maybe my username gives it away :p These cars are just too much fun. I'm making 400 hp following a turbo swap (using the Evo 6.5 RS--Tommi Makinen Edition titanium, twin-scroll unit) and all the supporting mods (720cc GReddy/Denso injectors, 3" TBE, metal-core...

What are your OTHER expensive hobbies besides guns?

For me, it's the holy trinity: guns, cars, and guitars. Of the three, racing cars is the most expensive by a very wide margin.

    Smith & Wesson Model 19

Great piece. K- and L-frame S&W's are my favorite handguns of all time. I've got a 1st generation 4" 686 (no dash) that I will never part with. As soon as I find a 2.5" M19 in good condition, it will be mine

Another amazing gun control talk with my wife...

Your example of a guy holding a gun to your head is probably not the best starting point. Especially if you're dealing with someone who honestly believes that if guns didn't exist there would be no crime. Try this. This is an actual situation that I faced. You guys are walking along a city...

Airport Style Security and Preventing Mass Shootings

All thinking citizens should vehemently oppose any and all violations of their civil liberties in the name of "security." Watch Alain Resnais and Jean Cayrol's Nuit et brouillard (Night and Fog) to see where such "public safety" measures take you. If you want true liberty, then you must...

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

I must have missed that. I thought that he had a CCW but didn't carry in the mall that day.

    What caliber for surgery?

There are very many cases like that in the neurosurgery literature. Frontal lobe injuries are notorious for causing personality changes...and sometimes little else.

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

Exactly. A violent criminal gets shot dead by a law-abiding citizen in a botched robbery or home invasion. Does anybody bat an eye when the law-abiding citizen gets dragged through the court system for daring to exercise their fundamental civil liberties? Well, the argument goes, the family has...

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

You know, I would LOVE to see NWJT sue the mall for their no-guns policy which prevented him from exercising his 2A rights and not respecting his CCW permit. Maybe get the families of the victims involved in some sort of class action. I'm sure they could find some savvy law firm to take up the...

First hand account of the Von Maur (Omaha, Nebraska) shooting

My thoughts exactly. Me and all of the "old timers" at my gun club have been shooting NRA Bullseye (.45 ACP at 50 yards with a one-handed hold) for years. Similarly, any handgun hunter could make such a shot, even with the excitement of a hunt. No reason to think shooting a handgun at a static...

Finger on the trigger guard or not?

I've always used a grip just like the one in the Tod Jarret video that RNB65 posted. However, I have noticed that the "support hand finger on the front of the triggerguard" hold is still popular in Europe. A bunch of my friends have done military service in Turkey, for example. They were all...

TİsaŞ Zİgana Süper Pİstol Semİ Automatİc Full Automatİc Pİstol ..crazy

I think that phrase was "lost in translation." They seem to mean that there's a selector switch located on the frame to choose between full auto and semi auto. I don't think they mean that a semi auto can be "converted" to full auto (at least, no more readily than any other semi could be...

    The CZ Club

Wow. These must have been VERY slow sellers. I bought my 97B in late 1997/early 1998. It's also got a low 3 digit serial number.
