    Savage Accutrigger Question

So what I'm hearing is you assumed my intention was to either heat or cut the spring and then gave advice based on what you thought I would do. Rather then answer my question you leave a comment that adds no value to the conversation

    Savage Accutrigger Question

Did you read my OP? I didn't ask if it was safe or where I could buy a spring. In fact I specifically acknowledged the risks of cutting or heating the spring. I asked what effect would cutting or heating the spring have. Your advice means nothing

    Savage Accutrigger Question

Thank you for being the only person to answer the question I asked and not give absolutely useless advice. It would seem that reading comprehension is a thing of the past.

    Savage Accutrigger Question

Not an Axis, but it would appear that the kit will still work with the accutrigger although its possible it will make it unsafe/trip the safety mechanism.

    Savage Accutrigger Question

If I cut coils off the spring to get the trigger pull weight down to 1.5lbs , do I lose the ability to increase the trigger pull weight back to 2.5lbs? If I heat the spring to reduce the trigger pull weight down to 1.5lbs do I lose the ability to increase trigger pull weight back to 2.5lbs?

    Savage Accutrigger Question

From the research I've done Savage produced (s) 3 different springs. Standard at 2.5lb, varmint at 1.5lb, and target at 8oz or something close to that. I'm no spring or trigger expert but I think that means that at its lowest setting the spring is not providing enough force to the trigger...

    Savage Accutrigger Question

As I understand it, if I cut coils off the accutrigger spring I will reduce the trigger pull weight. If I cut coils off the spring to get the trigger pull weight down to 1.5lbs , do I lose the ability to increase the trigger pull weight back to 2.5lbs? I've also heard that I can heat the...

    Proper Firing Pin Protrusion?

I found one thread, 4 years old and dead, that claimed the protrusion is dependent on the size of the primer not the platform. And I quote "05-.055" for srp, .059-.062" for lrp, and quality made shotguns the same as lrp" I assume srp stands for small rifle primers and lrp for large rifle primers.

    Proper Firing Pin Protrusion?

Yup. If the info I've found is accurate, the maximum firing pin protrusion on the Ruger 10/22 is set back .005 or so from the bolt face which is why its safe to dry fire even though its a 10/22. What I haven't been able to find is the factory or recommended spec for firing pin protrusion on a...

    Proper Firing Pin Protrusion?

What is the proper amount of firing pin protrusion for a 10/22? Does the amount of firing pin protrusion differ from firearm to firearm? Is the amount of firing pin protrusion the same or different for rim fire, center fire, and shot shells? Thanks for input ahead of time

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

Your 100% right. I'm nowhere near sorting ammo yet. I bought some Eley Target, Club, Team and Match as a shortcut to sorting ammo by weight, thickness, etc. I know at some point if I want 1/4" groups every time I'll have to go beyond just buying better ammo and sort through it, but that time has...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

Thats where I got the notion of rubber bedding the barrel instead of traditional bedding. They have alot of conflicting information too.

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

From what I've read and seen the accuracy from one 10/22 to another can be very different. My friend bought the same model I did, model 31143 which comes with a scope, and there was a noticable difference in accuracy when they were both stock. His shot 1" to 2" groups whereas mine shot 1" to 3"...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

Your 100 percent right about the Allen head cap screw being more accurate for torquing then the factory flat head. I should have mentioned it, but I'm already using the Allen head cap screw. I'll have to edit the OP to reflect that.

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

For firearms with two "takedown" screws I am a believer that torque values do effect the group size. My Savage B-22, sitting in a traditional synthetic stock, has two screws and indeed does seem to have preference for a specific torque values but the torque values are the same regardless of...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

Do you think moly lube, or a lubricant containing molybdenum disulfide, is needed to see the difference for what we're talking about? or would something like Super Lube w/PTFE suffice? Is it possible that its not "sticking"; there is no movement between 15 in lbs and 19 in lbs because the...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

What kind of stock do you have? Synthetic or wood? Free floated or bedded? And did 15 in lbs make the groups tighter for every brand or did different brands have different preferences? To me at least, it would make sense given the minor variations in stocks (synthetic or wood) that one torque...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

I keep the takedown screw lubricated with Clenzoil, although if I'm being honest its not something I always check. Do you think lubricating the threads would really make a difference? On my centerfire rifles I always ensure my screws are lubricated and have noticed the same thing, ie that the...

10/22: Tuning by Adjusting Torque on the Takedown Screw?

I've run into the same thing. I assume its either the barrel is sitting in slightly different place after cleaning or variations in ammo from lot to lot cause a slight shift in POI. I only have two 22s, a 10/22 and a Savage B-22 FVSR. CCI SV will shoot sub-moa groups at 50 using either one, but...
