    Bad Tactics, Bad Journalism

I'm just saying that the clerk behind the counter could have seen it that way. I'm pretty tired of this forum and all it's legal experts mouthing off and insulting and threatening people. I quit. Remove me from your forum.

    Bad Tactics, Bad Journalism

Wasn't the NY Post the paper that first reported on Hunter Biden's laptop? The story that was ignored and ridiculed and covered up by all the serious news operations like CNN, NYT, etc? Anyway, who knows how the case of the smoke shop employee vs the candy thief will go. I wouldn't want to be...

Looking for a good, preferably jacketed, bullet for 38 Special.

It's a blacktail rattlesnake. My cat saw him coiled up by the backdoor steps and I noticed the cat acting funny, staring at something. Turn on the light and look over the edged of the step and there's a rattlesnake right by the door mat. Thanks kitty!

    Caliber War Thread

It's hard to argue with your logic. For me it's a .22 revolver for fun and teaching new people to shoot, then a .38 revolver for knocking the hell out of cans or snakes, but a little 9mm for concealed carry when I go to a dangerous place like a big city.

Looking for a good, preferably jacketed, bullet for 38 Special.

I've been thru your same process for quite a while. The luckygunner tests convinced me that it's hard to find bullets that will expand reliably at 38 special velocities. The Hornady XTP bullets don't open up until you get to .357 magnum velocities. There are some factory loads that work well...

    Armed Citizen Stops "Crime Spree"

The standard police policy of NOT charging in to rescue people who are (or may be) getting murdered just proves that you are on your own when it comes to self defense. But even that can get you in trouble. A Circle K convenience store employee shot a robber who was pointing a gun at her and she...

    S&W sweetness... which one?

I like that .357 mag. Being a stainless steel K frame it would make an excellent all weather carry gun for backcountry wandering, like I do. And so what about the money? Spend it on something sweet like that, and you'll never regret it. Re K frames being too weak to handle .357 magnums, that was...

Short-range varminting on the cheap with rimfire?

When I was a high school kid I made a little money hunting prairie dogs for local farmers. I used my Dad's old Winchester model 62 pump .22 rifle, with the basic iron sights. The prairie dogs had towns of maybe 10 or 20 individual tunnels, with a pile of dirt encircling the opening of each...

Peep sight installation - vintage Remington 700/721 problem

Have you looked for a different peep sight? Something that would go where your rear scope base is, and would fit those holes?

    Walking stick for canids

I carry a stick, about armpit high for all my serious hiking. Mine is made of yucca which is strong and light. But when I travel, especially when I fly, I carry a simple wooden cane. No problems with the "authorities" anywhere in the world. It would serve as a weapon against any threat, no...

Took my wife shooting for her first time today

Looks like you both learned something. She learned the basics of handgun shooting and you learned that all those fancy autoloaders just aren't girl guns. I've been thru this same process with my wife and other ladies over the years. What I've found is that teaching them to shoot with a .22...

    i got a super nice 22 its a remington model 41 targetmaster so i have a question?

I have an ancient model 41 Targetmaster. It has been shot a lot over the 40 yrs that I've owned it. And it was old when I got it. But to answer the OP question, mine has rifling all the way to the muzzle.

    Hunting prep

I hunt elk with a 50 cal TC Omega inline muzzleloader. If I hit an elk I want to hit it again as soon as possible, if possible. Sometimes when one is hit it will give you another shot before disappearing. Elk are a lot harder to kill than deer and can be hard to find if they don't die pretty...

    38 spl jhp?

.357" JHP bullets are extinct also, so forget trying to load your own. You can buy .357" Hornady XTP bullets, but from what I've seen at Luckygunner, they don't open up at .38 Special velocities. They seem to be made for just for .357 magnum loads. I have a few Remington .357" 158 gr JHP bullets...

Here's a coati having lunch near a little river in the bottom of a canyon. The coati is the little dark dot among the rocks on the left side of the water. Much closer now. Coatis are a relatives of raccoons. This guy is turning over rocks and eating bugs.

    Pictures of non game animals

Javelinas are actually game animals, but they're so cool I had to put up some pics of one that was hanging around my back yard. There was a family of seven or eight other ones too, but this was the closest one. I don't like them hanging around too close because they can be dangerous if they...
