    S&W 686 Wood Grips

I have the Eagle Heritage round to square conversion on my 686. I’ve used these grips for 20 years, they are high quality and fit perfect. I shoot mostly .38’s these days, and they’re comfortable, but for extended range sessions with .357 magnum I prefer the rubber Hogues.

    Cimarron Firearms 7th CAV

Very nice replica, congratulations. I found a used Armi San Marco/ EMF Cavalry model a few months ago, and enjoy it immensely. Very accurate revolver.

    John Bianchi’s first holster

No, John had no company or logo at this point in his career. Just his initials in a horseshoe.

    John Bianchi’s first holster

I should have clarified, this was his first duty holster that he made, by hand. He’d been making leather belts and cowboy holsters since he was a kid.

    John Bianchi’s first holster

I actually work for John, as a personal assistant and at his shop, Frontier Gunleather. He brought this in to work the other day, he thinks he made it about 1959, in his garage. He was a Monrovia policeman at the time, and just didn’t care for the duty holsters available at the time. So he made...

    I bought a used revolver…..

…because I’ve always regretted selling my real Colt SAA about 10 years ago. This is an Italian clone, by Armi San Marco, in very lightly used condition. The price was right, although factory 45 Colt ammo is expensive. Will try to take it out to the range this afternoon and give it a...

    Wood...Combat grips, is anything better?

I shoot mostly .38’s in my revolver, and the Eagle Heritage grips work great. For a range day with full-power .357 Mags, I put on the rubber Hogues.

    Such beautiful S&W's

I’ve owned 4 S&W revolvers over the years but only have this one now, a generic 686 with Eagle Heritage grips. Target shooting, hunting, camp gun, home protection, it does everything well.

first encounter with a .45 ACP

I taught my nephew to shoot when he was about 16, he started getting interested in handguns. We started with a .22. That was fun. Moved up to a 9mm. He liked that more. Next came the 1911. He learned to handle that pretty quick. Next time out it was full house .357 mag thru a 4” S&W 66. Most fun...
