Traffic Stop has this ever actually happened to anyone?

Twice when I lived in Utah (1 for speeding and 1 DUI checkpoint) and once after I moved to AR. In UT I handed over my permit with DL and nothing was said either time. In AR the pistol was in plain sight on the passenger side floor and I told the cop there was a gun on the floor. Nothing more was...

As good as it's going to get.

Your stock has some nice grain. The metal on mine is so bad there's no point to worrying much about having better wood.

As good as it's going to get.

A couple years back I ordered an M1 Carbine from the CMP. I had heard that they were scraping the bottom of the barrel on these and I should not expect to get a pretty one. Boy, more prophetic words were never spoken. When the rifle arrived it was pretty bad. Worse, it took so dang long...

Midway has 22 LR in stock.

Subsonic? Somebody dug out of a closet somewhere. The situation will eventually improve. Patience.

    8mm anyone?

I have several rifles in 8x57 but I would not choose to build a custom gun in any 8mm bore size. Why do an 8mm? There are far better choices in other calibers when it comes to bullet selection and cost. Compare what's available in .308 to the .323 selection. Compare costs. Makes no sense to me...

Talk... Me... Out of it! (Krag Rifle)

The Krag is flat out one of the coolest rifles ever made. The price on this one seems a tad high to me but no worries about owning and shooting a Krag.

    My 1950s.

Like a lot of guys in the 1970s and 1980s I read the work of Skeeter Skelton. He most often carried a 5" M27 or a 4" 44 Special 1950 Target Model (Fourth Model Target 44 Special). I was certainly influenced by his taste in revolvers and wanted similar pistols. The 27 was no problem. The 5"...

I also have a confession to make (like SaxonPig)

Well, if anybody has been trying to find an HD or an OD now they know why there don't seem to be any available.

    Slack tide turning for ammo?

Around here shotgun ammo never disappeared. I look around and there is some CF ammo but no 22 LRs at all. Zip. Nada. On Gunbroker a brick of 22s will still sell for $75-$150. ARs and mags have come down in price.

    New old rifle! Pics.

Even reloading isn't any guarantee. I have several guns for which cases are not available meaning exhaustive case forming and one that uses an odd sized bullet requiring resizimng existing slugs. IMO a basic "service rifle" should use readily available ammo.

    What's Your "Pry Gun".

None of my rifles have any particular sentimental value. The only one that might have would be my first 22 that I got in 1967 but it was stolen in 1985. If it was the "pried from my hands" scenario this is what they would pick up after I died in a hail of automatic weapons fire. Hopefully the...
