    Mini 14 accuracy

I agree with just about everyone. Got mini because I liked looks (still do), but accuracy was so bad even off a rest I traded it at a gun show. As someone else said, I built an AR out of various parts and never looked back. It reliably shot moa at 100 yards all the time at 100 yards.

    Lee Turret Press Poll

I bought a four turret maybe 10 years ago but only used it for a year or so. A friend sold me a Lyman turret press and I've been using that ever since. The Lee was okay, but had too much play for my taste. The Lyman is much solider with virtually no play when sizing cases. The Lee is at my son's...

What sort of lathe is needed?

Lathe I bought a used Jet lathe several years ago and have threaded and crowned a few barrels. It's a 10x24. It would be nice to have a longer one, but the good thing about this lathe is it's got a fairly big spindle, 1 1/16. I think that's really important and can make up for a shorter bed. I...

    Savage Smokeless muzzle loader

I bought one at a gun show a few years ago after I got a bullet stuck in my Thompson barrel. I tried it with smokeless and really liked it, but laws here require black powder or substitutes only. Better check laws for your state.

    problems with AR-10

I had a similar issue with my ar15. I took it home released the rear pin on the upper tilting it up. I immediately discovered the little buffer pin had popped out. Never found the spring must have flown out when I tilted the receiver. I got a new buffer retainer pin and spring and have had no...

Some old rifle any idea what it is ???

I got one a few years ago in a trade for a Ruger 10/22 that I only had $130 in! I had picked up an old laminated stock and refinished it so that 22 looked really classy. He actually had a Winchester 94 as well and would of traded either but I chose the 99.

Looking for something a little different...

I like 6`s and 6.5`s. I'd go with 6.5-284 and/or 6mm BR. I have both in bolt and just built a 6.5 Grendel and a 6x45 and both are extremely accurate.

Is scent mitigation an exercise in futility?

I agree with almost all of you. I've shot a fair amount of game (and missed a whole bunch as well!) I think these guys that promote this stuff on the hunting shows are paid by the companies to promote the stuff. Think about it, as soon as you start walking, you're gonna start breathing...

    Your Scariest Hunting Experience?

This is not really about me but my son, although I did become a little scared too. About a month ago my son had an elk permit. He had hunted there several times but never gotten one although he'd seen several. He actually missed a couple last year at close range with a muzzle loader! He's really...

Anyone into MilSurps and reloading for them?

1936 mas I was given a 7.5x54 Cal 1936 MAS my cousin picked up at a yard sale years ago. It had been sportorized by a California company in 1949 according to a stamp on the barrel. It had no bolt at the time. I found an online company that had one and ordered it. Headspace looked okay so my...

    Mini-14 Ejection Question

I have always wanted a Mini-14, despite what I've read about accuracy. Anyway, I picked up a used one yesterday at a fairly decent price. It shoots good and ejects fine. However, I am surprised at how far it ejects the spent casings. I reload and have only been able to find about half of the...

How to lighten your Marlin .22 trigger (pics)

Good info I have a Marlin 783 .22 mag. It is the previous version of yours, I'm pretty sure, but a tube feed model. It's alwys been a good shooter, but with a terrible trigger. I tried shortening the one spring and putting a spacer in the other one. It helped a little, but did not lighten it...

    Reloading 30-30

Thanks for help I got some good info. By the way, the bullet was a 150 gr. with IMR 4064 powder and CCI LR primers. I guess I'll go ahead and load them at the OAL of 2.510, should have no problems.

    Reloading 30-30

Bought some 30-30 brass and round nose bullets for my Marlin 336. All data indicates that the minimum OAL should be 2.550. If I seat to the cannelure on the bullet, these bullets are at 2.510. Is this an issue? I don't know what brand bullets are (Remington?.) When loaded, the ogive on these...
