9x18 brass mixed in with 380

It's fun when you have a mixed bag of empty 9mm, .380, and Makarov brass (9x19, 9x18, and 9x17). Sometimes I'll shoot all three in one outing. I just stand them all up on end and pick them out by length. Don't throw the Mak brass away; buy a Makarov instead. :)

Pricing on brass-bought house with many ammo boxes full

If you're wanting to sell quick, in one lot, and not bother with too much sorting or counting; do a rough estimate of quantity for a fair market price estimate. Cut that price in half and it might sell.

Is there a commonly used rifle round less powerful than the AR15?

This is what a lot of people seem to think when they hear "AR15": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RbL4PwTDsQ I think it's good to dispel that myth.

Is there a commonly used rifle round less powerful than the AR15?

This, I believe, is the whole point of this thread. Not whether they are technically "high power" or effective for deer or not, but to simply inform ignorant folks of the facts. An AR really is just a rifle that shoots an "intermediate" cartridge (something between a .45 pistol and a...

Is there a commonly used rifle round less powerful than the AR15?

The term "High Power" in military rifle marksmanship competition, I believe, is really only to differentiate it from .22 rimfire marksmanship competition. The terminology may be the same as that used by the anti-gun media, but the meaning is quite different. The 5.56 round was widely criticized...

I watched Bowling for Columbine, don't get mad at me.

I think it's very important to know what the other side is saying, and just as important to try to understand why they believe it. It might challenge your own beliefs and cause you to dig into the foundations of what you really believe yourself. That said, Moore is a propagandist along the...

Is there a commonly used rifle round less powerful than the AR15?

I think I understand what you mean by "commonly used", as in recognizable to the average hunter? I really would not consider .218 Bee, .17 Rem, or even .22 Hornet to be commonly used in that sense. Yes, .223/5.56 is rather anemic by deer hunting standards. Most non-gun people have no idea...

How would the US enforce Feinstein's plan?

If you read closely the statements by some gun owners who say they think certain restrictions are inevitable, you will usually see that those making the statement generally support the particular restriction. I'm not trying to pick on any one person here. I have seen similar statements on...

    is Leatherman worth the cost?

That has been my experience. I've carried a Leatherman Wave nearly every day for many years. The company gave me one when I started. It broke once when I loaned it to a coworker who promptly broke the pliers trying to pry something. The secretary sent them in and Leatherman sent a replacement...

    My First MWAG Experience

Thanks for sharing that. All too often we hear rants about cops behaving badly; it's great to hear about a couple of true professionals.

    Vote thread

How in the heck am I depriving anyone of anything by only contacting those likely to vote pro-rkba???? I hope you're joking! That is just about the most ridiculous thing I've heard lately. If Aunt Mildred hates guns because they are SCARY, do you really feel the need to call and remind her to...

    Vote thread

Here's a specific challenge that everyone can do: call at least five people you know and encourage them to vote. Offer to drive. Take the day off work if you can. It's that important. You would be surprised at how many people forget or just don't bother. If we would all do this, and ask them to...

What are the "Great" Guns for under $400?

What type of shotguns are we talking about? Waterfowl (steel shot/magnum capable), personal defense, tactical, or just a good old classy shotgun to have around, maybe shoot some clay targets with once in a while? If the latter, I really like the old Ithaca 37's. I've found three of them in the...

I didn't know this about the 50 BMG

I was thinking the same thing. That was pretty good!

Old .22 long rifles great accuracy and value.

I've got one of those too, except it's a pre-12 model 12. I got it for $25 from an estate (nobody else wanted it). Now that I've cleaned all the rust off and put the butt-stock back together with epoxy, it's one of my favorites. It will never be a tack driver due to bore condition, but it drills...

    Vote thread

Here's an activism thought: VOTE! Better yet; vote, then get someone else to vote also. Round them up and take them to vote. Ask all the like-minded people you know if they vote. I'm sure this has been done before, and if it isn't specific enough I apologize. I hope this call to action fits...

The NRA comments on expressed desire for new gun bans

I don't like posting on these kind of threads, but this statement is blatantly, demonstrably false. It is simply not true. Repeating it again and again does not make it true. It is a lie that has been spread by the anti-gun crowd for the express purpose of confusing gun owners. I think some of...

    Desiccant bags

Silica gel can be damaged if you get it too hot. It works very well, though, if you treat it right. I got a pallet of it at my last job. It came in with with materials packaging and they disposed of it in the dumpster. I figured out how to efficiently dry and repackage it, bought a bunch of...

    S&W Model 19/66?

Mine is an early 4" 66 just like the middle one in the top photo of post 20. I read somewhere they only put stainless rear sights on the first couple years production in the early '70s. I love the way this gun balances. It just seems proportioned perfectly, and shoots great. I bought it used at...

What to look for in a M1 Garand

You're right; I do NEED another. I tell my wife we need one to give to each of the kids (when they're old enough of course), and we got another one on the way (kid, not an M1). The baby's due just after Thanksgiving. The problem is we're shutting the plant down and I'm scheduled to be laid off...
