I know what you're saying. But I am wondering if I have the probabilities backwards. It's not the chances but the stakes.
Anyhow, this thread is probably a dead horse.
I can't do any more about "petty theft" than I am now but I agree that statistics indicate I am more likely to be a victim of that, than to be involved in a gunfight.
I'm not arguing that.
I'm also not talking about mass shootings with handguns.
I'm not talking about gang related shootings.
I'm...
Well, I am in the city where "going postal" originated and where somebody blew up a building a few years back. Nothing to be proud of, for sure.
On the other hand, I've never had a car or house break-in - knock on wood.
So, historically speaking, in my experience, I guess I should be more...
I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. I'm not 100% convinced myself. I'm just spitballin'. Here's some of my thinking.
I've been carrying a handgun - not because of an occupational requirement - for almost 40 years. So have a lot of you.
I don't think I ever believed it was because I...
I guess I didn't make my points as clearly as I thought I did.
I agree that the chances of needing a rifle are miniscule - but they are not zero. I already said that.
I'm just not sure they're as close to zero as they used to be.
I'm concerned that things have already gotten worse and we don't...
I used to think a rifle for a truck gun was kinda suspect.
I don't need to put down predators attacking my livestock and I couldn't see myself charging into a "situation" to save the day. I couldn't envision a "situation" even occurring. I was a believer in "shooting at somebody 50 yards away...
This horse seems ........ dead.
But I will say that I enjoy the thread about guns and outdoors that started all of this. To say that showing the gun you took outdoors is a "requirement" of the thread may be a little overblown. I would encourage you to keep posting your outdoors pics - maybe with...
My last three gun purchases were all revolvers - a well-used S&W blue 4" M15, a used Ruger blue 3" GP100 with fixed sights, and a used Ruger Super Wrangler that I didn't think I would ever buy but the price persuaded me to try it. Lately, I have been going straight to the used guns when I enter...
Yeah, I know about the oceans. But I think people are beginning to wonder about who has walked - using their boots on the ground so to speak - across the border recently and whether they have brought any problems here. Estimates are 5.5 million in 2022 and 2023 so far. There is no way anybody...
I have no experience or knowledge to draw on but I don't see how bear spray is useful if you are in your tent when you are attacked. Seems like both gun and spray are appropriate.
I occasionally see those Beretta 22s for sale, usually at a pretty good price but I have never grabbed one. If you have shot it and can compare it to a Browning Buckmark and/or Ruger Mark IV, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
