Senate bill passed that requires Amtrak to allow passengers to transport firearms

Well... it may be considered a pointless victory, or a silly, unecessary one... but I'll take a win for the 2nd any day :neener:

Sell My 9mm and Go All Out with .45. What do People Think?

Unless there is a pressing economic need, keep your guns. What if 5 years down the road you change your mind again? a 9mm safe queen is better than regretting selling the gun.

    FREE 1 year NRA membership!

Very smart move on the NRA's part IMO to increase their membership numbers. If they can claim 2-3 million more members, it may give them a bit more influence with congress.

Father in law bought a High Point and...

Well.. if he has to use it in self-defense, and the police take it and (badly) store it for six months and it comes back wrecked, there is no heartbreak either. The real shame of a nice pretty gun is what happens if it is used for defense and gets mistreated as evidence.

    Springfield xd msrp ?

Are there any serial numbers in the paperwork for the gun? Do the guns match the serial numbers? Most paperworks for applications includes specific serial numbers to go with the model numebrs. If they were sloppy enough to give you the wrong serial number for the paperwork... well, there...

    .40 vs .45

Count me in with Taurus 9mm. If I want capacity 9mm is fine, if I want a larger bore .45 is fine. .40 sounds nice but I think the other two rounds are well proven enough to fit the bill.

What were "pre hysteria" prices on M1A's?

Also might want to check mdshooters.com I am pretty sure someone was selling a lightly used rifle for under 2k. Local sellers too, which can be nice.

    Fn Herstal

Well.. the FN Herstal website still shows classic Browning HP pistols. I envy your brother :p

Found another Use for a AK 47

Well, as much as I'd like to disparage the shooter's skills... he did come out of the incident alive and drove away the bad guys. He won the fight, which is all anyone can ask of a weapon....

Help turn a pansy lib into a gun nut!

Treo beat me to it. Best investment would be NRA basic pistol, rifle and shotgun classes, followed by the NRA defensive pistol class. You'll get a great basic education and be able to fingure out how to buy a gun that fits you, instead of relying on countless keyboard commandos (myself...

    The Lady Gun?!?!

I agree with the sentiments on having the lady in question try the guns herself and decide. She should feel like "this is my gun" when she hold and uses it, and be comfortable shooting it. Also, there's a lot of less concrete factors in terms of comfortable weight, action, caliber that...

    Most important firearm innovation

I would not be so quick to rule out the cartridge for caseless ammo for like metalstorm or the g11 caseless, as both example weapons are fundamentally and commercially, failures. They reside as nice experiments that won't go anywhere for a variety of very good reasons. Interchangable parts...

    Best Ban-able Rifles

Just write to your congresscritters with a simple, signed promise. "Keep firearms regulations of any kind a political third rail, and I will just vote for you. Try taking away our rights and my new hobby is getting you out of office. If you actually support repealing gun restrictions and...

    bang for buck?

Ruger p95's run about the same price new as the Sig's. Not the prettiest guns around, but they run reliable and can carry 15+1.

Cheap 20 gauge? For lady friend

A mossberg 500 youth 20 gauge is should be found for under 250 bucks. #3 buckshot is also supposed to be a decent defensive load for 20 gauge.

    Favorite 9mm gun?

I've owned, shot and thanks to extended unemployment sold a Taurus 99, hk usp, beretta 92, SIG 226 and cz-75. CZ was the best for me personally in terms of ergonomics and smile factor while shooting. Not 100% sure why, maybe because of the trigger, which was surprisingly good, or the...

    Why Not a Hi-Power?

Well, a High power frame and a CZ frame puts you in steel frame pistol heaven IMO. I might be crazy, but I feel the steel frame guns just "feel better" and are more comfortable than a lot of the lighter alloys and poymer frames. Definitely worth the weight.

Kimber- Bad gun, bad reputation, bad luck?

I bought and due to economic issues sold a Kimber Ultra CDP a few years back. It worked a thousand times better than my finicky colt defender, and shot as well as my full size USP .45 It was a more expensive model, and did everything I asked of it. Mark me down as a happy former owner.

If you could have one Big boolit semi - .458 Socom or M1 garrand ?

Cheaper ammo, more commonly available ammo, well proven action, good enough for more jobs. Garand makes a good argument for itself.

Why should we own M1 Carbines?

its a dang pretty gun that a petite lady or child or lazy adult male can use effectively. With good shot placement it does the job fine. It has a sense of history to the weapon without being cumbersome from age... and that says a lot in my book.
