my mossy's original bead sight protruded a tiny bit into the barrel. I wouldn't worry about it, but if you want to get rid of it, unscrew it and file it down.
(I replaced the bead on mine for other reasons)

Well I wouldn't say the .30 caliber round was ever "obsolete" any more than the .45 round was "obsolete" when they phased in 9mm.
I would have to agree that the .260 or thereabouts round is probably the best for infantry. The .22 is just not enough, the .30 is too much for the average grunt...
