Hey Thanks! I don't think it'll help to post pics since the gun doesn't have the correct grips. I did some searching and found 2 types of grips for the Police Positive: 1) Police Positive Wide Square Butt 2) Police Positive Round Butt (also fits Banker, Cobra, & Colt Det. Spec.)...

I just picked up a Colt Police Positive today. It currently has the UGLIEST white plastic grips I've ever seen! :barf: Not to mention that they are about 1/4" too short (where the top meets the frame... bottom fits fine). It's a little worn but the price was right. I'd like to start...

Thanks so much, Old Fuff ! :) I'll do a search right now and do some serious reading of past postings. I think the dates are going to fall between 1953 and 1955... just based on the coil spring and that it is a "5 screw". The serial number threw me off a little.... it's only 21,000...

Congratulations on your "new" S&W model 10 ! I've got a model 10-5 that I think is a 1962 vintage. It's got the thinner tapered, pencil barrel. I'm awaiting a letter from S&W for shipping dates, details, etc. My serial number is in the C619,000 range.... just wondered how close...
