Can't help but notice that my most recent handgun purchases have not been the big comforting Ruger revolvers that I enjoy shooting but smaller plastic guns that are not so much fun to shoot but fit in my pocket or just weigh less.
Isn't that the way it is... Patton was killed by a drunk driver too, as I recall... seems like there's some other famous soldier / gunfighter / somebody who got killed in a car crash / by a drunk driver, but I can't recall at the moment...

To those it offends to have to remember to disengage a safety, you have the option of not (re) enlisting. Besides the Army prefers to use artillery or air support much more than side arms.
"As for safeties. When you are cold, wet, hungry, covered in mud and haven't slept for 3 days, it is very important that your weapon have an On/Off button to make sure it only goes bang when what little is left of your mind decides so."
This is the answer. Stress and fatigue, and showing off...
ScottyT, Test fire a Moisin Nagant M-44 carbine before butchering one of the long rifles. The carbines are dirt cheap. You might change your mind about wanting a smaller 7.62 x 54R.
Daddy you did good! :)There has been a loaded 20 guage youth gun in my bedroom closet for many years. Remember to get your little girl to use it often and have lots of fun with it!

Owning a new gun is not usually a life or death issue; if it is, buy another model.

"Ok, so what's up with Ruger, John Wayne was a Colt man."
All of the above and consider the Wayne Estate licensed the use of his name for this project. The fantasy that is Hollywood meets todays business needs.
"I was convinced that someone would, but I don't recall reading any reports of that happening, so either (1) I missed 'em! or (2) people are smarter than I think (ha!, maybe luckier?) or (3) these things are stronger than we're giving them credit for."
Possibly all 3, but I suspect /hope...
