    Calculator for components on hand

"How did you arrive at the place where you’ve accumulated components you don’t already know how you’re going to use them?" CQB45ACP: gift from friends. They all know I reload and am "into" guns. When they come across something they think I might like they give it to me. I recently was gifted a...

    .222 Rem copycat load

This is my first foray into tapered cartridges. Up to now I have only loaded straight wall ammo and shotgun shells. Walkalong- I only see 4895 data for 2500-3100 fps with (not my) 40 gr bullets. I just bought a box of the V-Max bullets. Perhaps my Father's Day request should be a chrony.

    .222 Rem copycat load

I recently acquired dies for my .222 Rem. The load that has been my Savage's favorite fodder is the Hornady 40 grain V-Max ammo. Muzzle velocity is listed at 3600 fps. I can not find a load recipe that comes close to that. I have cases, primers and bullets. What powder would emulate the Hornady...

    Calculator for components on hand

Jim- I am definitely planning to start low. I'm trying to use what I have instead of buying all new powder, bullets and primers. Specific example: Just got dies for .222 Rem. The cartridge that works well in my rifle is the Hornady 40grain V-Max. I would like to duplicate that. However I can...

    Calculator for components on hand

Is there any site that can give me loads based on the cartridge, bullet, powder and primer I have? I can find data for 2 or 3 of those components, but not all 4. Trying to see if there is a way to calculate loading data so I can use the things I have.

    Primer ID

I was gifted a box full of reloading stuff and there was about a half sleeve of small primers in it. No box, just the tray they were in. Is there any easy way to tell what they are? Would pictures help? Measurement? I'm hoping they are small rifle primers, but if they are small pistol would they...

Found this in a batch of reloading stuff a friend gave me. Any idea what it is? What additional information would you need to identify it?

    Academy Dissapointment

sparkyv: I remember back in the day going to the old Academy Surplus under IH-35 near 38th St in Austin. Loved that place. Then they changed. I'd buy calcium carbonate from them.

Modern version of Win Supreme Failsafe

Probably decade(s) ago I bought several boxes of .270 Win in the 140grain Failsafe. I have 2 bullets left and have been looking for a replacement. My particular version was discontinued, so I am looking for the newest incarnation. I see on the website that Winchester shows an Expedition Big Game...

Is SIG not making .40 cal pistols anymore?

Went to the SIG website to do a little window shopping and I could not find any pistols in .40 cal. I searched and found barrels and magazines, but no guns. Am I just not searching the right way or have they discontinued them?
