Anybody ever filed off the finger grips on Glock gen3?

Took a dremel to the finger grooves as they did not match my hand. Smoothed it out with sandpaper, love it. I knew that if I sold the gun the custom work would hurt it but when you like and trust a weapon why worry. I did it to a 19 and a 21. It is easy and for me made the gun feel better.

    Confused about CETMEs, Saigas

If you are conviced that because of money the Saiga is the way to go, go there. My experience with Remingto autos 742's and 7400's have not been good. Now that is my experience only. I have a Century Cetme and a 16" Saiga. For me the Saiga is the more accurate (even with crappy sights)...

If you had $600 for an AK47

I have a WASR, Norinco AK and a Saiga (unconverted). They all shoot, the WASR is the worst built of the bunch but it is easy minute of man. The prices where ya'll live must be better than in S. GA as $600 would barely cover the Saiga and if I could buy 2 for 600 as one person said, I might and...

    Hi-Point C-9 9mm

I have a safe full of high dollar to ultra cheap guns. My high points (carbine, 380 and 45) are heavy, ugly, bad trigger but always go bang. I agree I would throw another 100-150 and get a S&W M10, Ruger P-series (they are also heavy and ugly)but if I only had 100-150 then that is where I go...

What's the oldest gun you own ?

oldest Oldest that I shoot is my Rolling Block 45/70 (1879). I have a Remington No.1 Rolling Block made for the Argentine Army, never fired with original sling. Have been told about 1870, but no research has been done. KAR 88 (1890 Eufurt), 1901 Carl Gustaf that I hunt with (6.5x55)(Kimber...

Used Gun for Same Price - Ruger GP100 vs. S&W 19-4

choice If it is a good price get both. I agree with above, the Smith. My reasoning is that the Smith will have better resale value at least around here. There is nothing wrong with the Ruger but if the same money and condition take the Smith.

    Most plentiful milsurp ammo

I agree the 7.62x54R is out there and cheap. Clean your gun after shooting and everything is fine. The good things is that the rifles are cheap also. A nice Mosin Nagant M-44 or 91/30 is easy to find and fairly cheap. There is nothing like shooting a M-44 or M-38 just before dark. The good...

Your minimum SD handgun - Where do you draw the line ?

    Mossberg ATR100 Rifle Review

Mossberg 100 I traded for a Mossberg 100 because I got into it for a little amount for an '06. I planned to sell it but messed up and shot it first. I mounted a cheap Tasco and from 50 yds everything was under 1.5 to 2.0 inches the three times I shot. I then mounted a Leupold 6x42...

Yugo vs. Chinese SKS - Same price/ NEW

SKS I've had the Russian, Yugo, Chinese, Albanian. My first choice is the Russian then the Yugo by far. I have gotten rid of all my Chinese and have no plans for another one. I have had the problem with the gas valve and a 20.00 piece will fix that forever. The chrome is not a problem for...

winchester model 1912 12 ga shotgun

Model 12 I agree that you got a steal. I just bought a 20 ga., it did not look that good for 350 and thought I did well. I now have a 12 and 20 need more. This one is also a 1912 marked, my 12 was made in 1939. It was the first sporting firearm my uncle saw after WWII, he pd. 65.00 for it...

    True Bargain Stories

Best Bargain We all have a few stories. I have a MAS 36, 1937 mfg., never redone for $50., a Colt Diamondback, nickel, .38 LNIB for 220.00. My story is the one that I did not buy. A close friend died about 1983. His son (who did not like guns) called and offered to sell me a few guns from...

Pocket Carry, What's a Good Choice?

pocket carry Before I get to my carry, to answer the question in the first thread. There is NOTHING wrong with the 380 (.32 or .22) as a carry round. Get some good ammo, Glaser, Hydroshock, Gold Dot .... and you are in business. As LW Seecamp says in their paperwork, shot placement is most...

    scope for Ruger #1, 375 H&H????

Ruger I had (wish still have) a Ruger No.1 in 458. I put a 2.5 Leupold with the standard bases, shot my bear at 5 paces. I agree with fourfingermick in theory, I'm not sure I would have the intelligence to remove the scope to use irons. My bear was not charging but I was on the ground and...

How much time do you spend on the highroad?

Time on THR I monitor about 4-5 forums every night. I spend about 3-4 hours surfing the gun forums. Every morning, I give it a quick looksee before work. My office has all gun sights blocked so I can not get on during the day.
