Kel Tec Sub 2000 9MM-Anyone have experience with these?

Mine uses the S&W mags also... Overall, quite pleased...it's compact, portable and, at least to me, practical. Had it for a few years now, and it continues to function without any problems.

Anyone here have a Mossberg .410 pump?

Mine has been trouble free...it's a great "woods-walker"...which is what I use it for. Reciever is proportional to bore size...small and light. Mine has a full choke and has done well for varmits, etc... i.e., fine for it's intended use but probably nothing beyond that.

Why not doubles for grizzly protection?

From what I've read...and picked up in conversations...Virginian had it 'bout right. The double sidelock was, mechanically anyway, thought of as two SS rifles joined together. With two separate locks, it was believed that at least one would work, particularly with external hammers. These...

Houston Gun Stores, I just dont get it.

Actually, I'd comment that overall, there are some outstanding "buys" in the greater Houston-Harris County area... You gotta shop around and in some cases, try to negotiate the price...quite a few of the "quality" shops will work with you, depending on the item. Know your item/market...

Do you belong to the NRA?

Endowment-Life, TSRA-Life. My wife is also a Life member.... We may not always agree with "every position/every issue" but try to keep in mind that there's probably no organization that's perfect for everybody all the time. But...we're in the NRA "corner" by choice...

    Revolver safeties?

Interesting topic..... I've been questioned by new or novice shooters in this regard, with the newcomers...upon hearing my encouragement toward the wheelgun...stating that many "modern" semi's don't have "safeties"...so why limit one's self unnecessarily, particularly in terms of mag...

Attention 16 Gauge Fans... 870 Express Youth Deal

FYI...Remington has a $30.oo rebate in effect on the Express..or did..check the website. I bought my Express 16 at Gander Mountain for $239 a couple of months ago. Took it hunting yesterday...shoots great...

    Ruger 50th Anniversary Blackhawk .357

I'll bet you really enjoy that "50th"...I bought one several months ago. I shoot it frequently, and really enjoy it. I carry it in the woods quite often, kind of a go anywhere-do anything revolver.

    Paris Theodore dies

I remember when his holsters were news...and his "ASP". As a young Deputy Sheriff I bought-and still have-one of his Seventrees Holsters. It was neat then and still is today. He'll be missed...

    Long recoil action

I have a Remington 11-48 R, which has a 20" factory riot barrel ( and so marked ). Function of this SG with short or long barrels is identical. I've altered A-5 barrels in the past, and found them to work normally also.

Good war movies & what you like about 'em

"The Rough Riders" and "we were Soldiers Once.." And, ALL the WW-2 movies that were actually produced during the war, or VERY shortly thereafter. I think that the opportunity to see all the equipment, ships, aircraft as they were ( new, in-use, "serviceable" ) then is priceless...

    Police Armament

This is one topic which I really didn't want to get into...at least initially. But then.... I've been...still am...a LEO for almost 38 years. Seen a few things, done a few more. Got some urban experience, and some rural, and some best classified as a "mix". The passage of time, changing...

Colt New Frontier: Anybody else have one?

Congrats on the NF... I've got a 5-1/2" 44 SPL, and I'm quite fond of it. Frankly, I think the NF is a "class act" and most are reasonably priced. You, however, got a heckuva deal, so double congrats!! For me, the good sights are a boon to "old eyes" and, it's still a Colt single...

Does anyone know about Sears and Roebuck guns?

There were certainly some nice firearms made under the various trade names of Sear, Wards, Western Auto, etc... My favorite .308 is a J.C.Higgins, about 1960 vintage, and made by Husqvarna of Sweden. The rifle is quite graceful and well balanced, with a nice, hand-checkered walnut stock...and...

Best Ranges/Gun shops in San Antonio?

I go to SA once or twice a year for training...luv th' city...and I always go to Nagels and sometimes to Texas Guns. I've dealt with both and enjoyed the experience. Nagels is to me much like Collector's Firearms in Houston, if perhaps a bit smaller. I've found that anything that I've...

Is the Colt Single Action Army outdated as a business gun?

I like and shoot single-actions. I'd think such a revolver would be acceptable as home protection, or the like. I don't think it would be desirable or practical for urban carry...too big for one thing. I do, however, think the old SA is quite capable of "handling business"...and, I suspect...

Marlin 336: are older ones better or not?

FYI... In the late eighties, I think...Marlin made a straight-stock 336 ( similiar to the old 336 Texan ) for a while that had an 18 or 18-1/2" barrel. I had one for several years...that I had bought used. Gave it to a young man about a year ago as his first centerfire. I paid about $200...

Nov 7, 2006: Did you vote?

Interesting ...for an "off-year" there were 20 or so people already in line ( 6:45A ) which is kinda remarkable in my precinct. Took about 20 minutes or so to vote...

    I Met the Nice Policeman

Actually, The Texas Rangers are the "detective bureau" of The Texas Department of Public Safety. Vacancies are filled by test/board and the applicants are almost without exception serving members of DPS. There are other specialized investigative units within DPS, but the Rangers are...
