    Blackhawk Serpa lock

I have the Serpa model for my Beretta 92FS and use it for USPSA at the local club. My trigger finger indexes perfectly in line just above the trigger guard as I have trained to do with other holsters. Completely natural draw. And yes, even though shooting USPSA I use a Level II rentention...

why everyone loves glock handguns so much?

I would actually modify that a bit, "A Glock is like a Hummer but the Beretta is like a Range Rover". Both will get you there, but one seems more utilitarian and the other more sleek and sexy.

    SHTF Rifles 101

I'm finding myself intrigued with the new Sig 556. I currently do not own any other rifles but have been considering some sort of AR, AK, etc. for home defense (longer range) and range shooting, etc. What are your impressions (those that may have handled/fired/purchased) a Sig 556 as a SHTF...

    Search for 100% reliability...

I purchased a new Beretta 92FS new in 1994 that I still have to this day. Thousands of rounds through with 100% reliability. I was even shooting lead-tip reloads purchased from the range when I first got the gun (before I knew better). Man that things would be filthy after a few hundred...

    Indoor range training methods

Well, I think I do both... I'll start from the low-ready position with the target somewhat close and find myself putting 2-3 fairly rapid shots onto the paper with my eyes fully focused on the target itself (point shooting, right?) But, once the target gets out there a little bit I find...

    Indoor range training methods

I've recently gotten back into shooting my 92FS more frequently (i.e. a number of range sessions in the past several months whereas previous I was going YEARS in between visits since I first purchased gun in '94). Anyway, I'm comfortable with the mechanics and operation of the gun and am an...

    Decockers...

I use the decocker on my 92FS consistently. I can visually see the mechanism rolling the firing pin out of the path of the dropping hammer. Much more comfortable/confident for me to use this than manually attempting to decock with hammer drop (never).

I found an interesting (new?) way to press check.

I like the pop-out tab on my Beretta 92FS that has a bit of red paint that appears when their is around chambered. Allows for quick visual check of chamber without press check and also allows me to feel for popped out tab in the dark

    Thugs hold their pistols sideways?

Medula, I believe that may have grown from the Israeli method of racking the slide by canting the gun 90 degrees to the left (ala gansta style) and pushing the grips forward with strong arm while pull back slide with weak-side hand. I don't, however, believe they do any training with the gun...

Why we need to handle firearms safely (kinda graphic)

jash, I agree 100%. I too lock open slide with magazine removed, visually check chamber for rounds, etc. before any dry-firing, etc. My point was just I'd rather purchase a gun that was designed to disassemble differently than forcing a trigger pull. Nothing wrong with Glocks, S&W...

Why we need to handle firearms safely (kinda graphic)

I may be Mr. OverCautios (Hi, nice to meet you). But that is one of my criteria when considering a gun purchase. I will NOT buy one that requires a trigger pull to disassemble. Makes no sense to me. Other makes/models have found ways to engineer without requiring this. I'm sure there are...

    Wal-Mart: buyer screening

Just bought400 rounds of WWB in 9mm a couple weeks ago and no questions, no ID requested, no logged license numbers, etc. Even if you HAD to answer a question, etc. how can you beat $11.95 for 100 rounds!! Granted, I would rather have a different round to stake my life on, but it fires...

Range shoot after work - dilemma

Was not really 'worried' about - just wanting to hear what opinions others had or what some of you might have chosen to do in a similar situation. I don't need to go in early in order to leave early - I set my own hours and work from home most days. As far as asking questions like this on...

Range shoot after work - dilemma

Ha! I hear ya. I've been there 10+ years and they pay me well. I'd rather not risk that, thank you very much. David.

Gun safe options for nightstand drawer?

Biggest concern is the children in the house (2 and 4 year olds). Also, frequently have several kids/moms over for afternoon play sessions, etc. So other kids who I do not know/trust are in the house (hopefully not in our bedroom, but you never know). I personally would prefer to have a...

Range shoot after work - dilemma

Thanks all - the compartment in the trunk (beneath the mounted CD changer) would be ideal for temporary storage and might even hold small safe or cable-lock box. Good ideas from all - much appreciated! David.

Gun safe options for nightstand drawer?

Anyone out there have suggestions for a small handgun safe that fits in the nightstand drawer? Only needs to hold full size semiauto and several magazines. I currently have a Brink's 5074 Keypad safe...
