Best all around shotgun. What is it?

Good advice. I happen to like SxS doubles and have practiced with them for years. I can shoot a 25/25 at the trap range with one, and take down game with the other. Practice is the key. It doesn't matter what you use. I just like SxS doubles best, but I know I'm in the minority. The rich...

Does anybody make a nice, METAL, CO2 BB/pellet pistol?

Yes. A Benjamin EB22. http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/model.pl?model_id=425 All metal, built to last, and not too expensive. I've got one, and would buy another one tomorrow. Black brass, walnut grips. What's not to like? My other Benjamin is a model 132, predecessor of the of the...

    Ultrasonic cleaning question

The little one I have, and the big one at my brother's PD both have stainless-steel tanks. I can't imagine plastic would be any good.

    First-gun seller's remorse?

Nope. The first two I got, a Marlin 39D and S&W model 35, are still here. Almost 40 years now. A few others have come and gone, but not those two.

Getting the most from the snubbys

I love my S&W model 60 .38Spl snubby, and that's the first thing I would grab for HD/SD/carry. With lots of practice over the last 20 years with it, I'm able to but a steel silowhette (sp?) target at 50yds 5 shots out of 5 (single action, two hands). My preferred ammo for HD is Winchester...

Why not a 20gauge for Home Defense?

I only use a 12-gauge because I've had a couple of them for many years. The shorter SKB double (26" barrels) would be fine for HD. On the other hand, I wouldn't hesitate to use a 20-gauge for a moment. Ammo choice might be more limited, but there's enough...

What did you get for Christmas (gun related) [threads merged]

Santa was good to me More appropriately, it was my cousin who gave me a Beretta 92F to go along with my Beretta 87 Cheetah. How nice was that?!

    Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Merry Christmas, Titan. May God bless you, your family, and all of your fellow soldiers. Your honorable sacrifice to the freedom that the rest of us enjoy hasn't been forgotten. My prayer to all of you for a safe and speedy return. --skeeter

    Early Christmas present!!!

I can relate to this. I've got a 25' range in my basement and a Crosman 2250B CO2 rifle for just that reason. It snowed about a half-foot today, with high winds. Much better to just walk downstairs. The bullet trap that I have will work with a .22, but the air rifle just seems better.

    Open carry of rifles?

AFAIK, it's still legal in OH, but I'm not going try and find out. I used to walk all over the neighborhood with a long gun when I was younger, but that was 40+ years ago. Heck, my dad even took a .22 rifle to Hart Arms in downtown Cleveland for some custom work on the streetcar in 1948! Can...

Are Lady Smith's just for Ladies?

I have an older S&W M60-3 (.38Spl), but I've fitted it with rosewood grips which are similar to the ones on the Lady Smiths, just because they fit my hand better. If you're manly enough to keep your ego from getting in the way, then by all means consider a Lady Smith.

Who here shoots handguns with both eyes open?

I know you're supposed to shoot with both eyes open, and Lord knows I've tried, but I just can't do it. My right (dominant) eye wants to be in sole charge.

    Recommended .22LR Ammo?

I'll echo that. I like Velocitors, Stingers not as much, and often use whatever I find on sale. When it comes to reliability and consistent performance, though, I've never found anything better than CCI Mini-Mags. Solids or hollow-points, your choice, they're both good.

    22 mag

I have an ongoing love/hate feeling towards the .22Mag. I love the satisfying "crack" that it makes when it goes off, and the flat trajectory that it has. However, the newer hyper .22LRs (Stinger, Velocitor, et. al.) give it quite a run for its money, and are much cheaper to shoot. For that...

Giving myself a present - what knife should I buy myself?

Since you're already a Benchmade fan (so am I), go to their website: https://www.benchmade.com/products/catalog.asp? and download their latest .pdf catalog and see if one strikes you fancy and your budget. I doubt you could go wrong with anything from Benchmade.

    Favorite Multi-Tool?

I really like leatherman tools But, after years of buying and selling through eBay, I've become very weary of them. Too many things are over-priced to begin with, and many sellers often overcharge for shipping. Take a look here instead...

What are your OTHER expensive hobbies besides guns?

My hobbies used to include fast cars and motorcycles, but those days are behind me. Photography and electronics are my only other indulgences now. Too many cameras to count (some digital, some 35mm, although I haven't used the latter in quite some time), and an HDTV. Other than that, I'm a...

What's in your bug out kit?

I've never really planned to "bug out." If the SHTF, I plan to "bug in." I've got enough food to last me at least two weeks (probably more) and enough water as well (provided I skip bathing). More than enough guns and ammo to hold off anyone trying to get in here. Add in two UPSs, 10...

Buy local or buy online & pay for FFL transfer+shipping?

I always buy locally when I can. However, when I wanted a Beretta 87, they couldn't get me one, but I located one (by way of gunbroker.com) in Nebraska. It cost me $30 shipping and $20 FFL transfer, but at least I got it. I would have paid just about the same in sales tax if I had bought it...

    Exposed guns and rain?

I've taken my Smith M60 with me backpacking in the rain several time, and it wasn't fazed one bit. I gave it a routine cleaning and rub-down with Breakfree CLP when I got home, and it's been fine for 20 years. I got caught out in the rain once with my blue-steel Smith M35 while squirrel...
