I'm polishing the bolt on my mauser style rifle. specifically the extractor. I believe it to be Stainless steal.
Current it is dull with streak marks. I would like to get it as close to a shinny mirror finish as possible.

Has anyone installed a 3 postion saftey on the Rem 700? David Gentry is one manufacture of them, and they have a disclaimer that it must be installed by a smith. Is it due to legal liability requirements or is there some grinding, cutting etc that requires specific tools for the job?
