On-rifle storage options for cleaning stuff for AR15 carbine?

    Thanks for the advice!

On-rifle storage options for cleaning stuff for AR15 carbine?

I know there are all sorts of neat grips and stocks out there offering a fair amount of storage space, but wondered what options there might be that would allow one to carry a small amount of cleaning gear (like Otis stuff or maybe a boresnake AND some lube), without spending big bucks? Yeah, I...

Springfield Armory M1A rifle 308 Winchester

Count me as another big fan of the M14 platform, as well as Project Appleseed. It's a great experience and really good instruction on rifle shooting. I really, really need to find a long-distance range to take my M1A out to play on. I chose the "Scout Squad" model, which just has a little...

Can someone help out a writer who's clueless about guns?

Incidentally, kudos to the OP for seeking out info on the subject. Better than being like Ian Fleming (now tell me, please, some of y'all have read the original James Bond books!) and having a guy approach you after the fact to give you pointers. ;) Still, I love those old books and one day...

Can someone help out a writer who's clueless about guns?

I would agree that Glocks would probably remain prolific in the future. Anyone else here play "Fallout?" I started with the 3rd game, but apparently as far back as the first one the developers felt that the Glock brand would last a long time...

Can someone help out a writer who's clueless about guns?

I guess I would ask how FAR in the future do you have in mind? At some point you can make up some doo-dad ray gun, but in the next 50 years or so I don't see it happening. And even if it does....many people these days still swear by the 1911 platform, which has been around for over a century...

    Walgreen's Loses My Business FOREVER

PLEASE do. Independent pharmacies (in my experience, run by good people who treat you as family rather than a number on a spreadsheet) would appreciate your business! ;) And the "you" in the parenthesis up there refers to customers AND employees.

What knife for Bear?: The Japanese Solution

If a bear was coming for me and all I had was a blade, I'd be tempted to do like the Asian immortal in Highlander: Endgame and plant my sword at neck-level in the wall and decapitate myself!

What's Your Pick for POCKET CARRY??

Ruger LCR. Tuff Pocket-Roo Holster (holds one speed strip). I've also tried a Kel-Tec P3AT and Glock 26. The Ruger holds fewer rounds, but more potent ones than the KT. The Glock I can manage "pretty" well, but the revolver is a easier-packing package. Overall I was happy with my Kel-Tec...

    38 special or .380?

Huh, how have I never heard of that before? Not that I want one, I just think it's interesting. Maybe another option for people really sensitive to recoil?

    38 special or .380?

I've carried a P-3AT, and switched to a Ruger LCR for assorted reasons. I'm limited to pocket carry, and an autopistol like the P3AT can get lint inside it easier than a shrouded-hammer revolver. There's a reliability edge with a revolver (not that the Kel-Tec gave me any trouble), and the...

Rock Island Tactical on the way

FWIW, I kind of impulse-bought a GI model from the same company, the only ammo to be had at the moment of purchase was some PMC 185-gr hollowpoints. Mine ate a few mags of them without a hiccup.

    Ha, love it! :D

Possible Durham, NC move. Any gun relevant info?

Seriously??? Geez louise. Don't we have a preemption law, where localities can't make their own willy-nilly laws like that when they're not in line with State law?

    Need Purpose Built Walking Cane

Tagging....having some foot issues which will hopefully resolve, but good info to have a look at before it's needed.... ETA: Only problem with the City Stick (& similar designs) for me is that I found when I NEEDED a cane to help get around for a bit, I really needed something with a handle.

Possible Durham, NC move. Any gun relevant info?

I'm a westerner in NC, so can't help you a lot specifically... One thing going for you pro-gun wise is that I think Durham is pretty close to the Appleseed home range in Ramseur, NC. :D NC has made great, great strides in 2A rights since breaking the Democrats' far-too-long hold on the...

    Help getting past handgun anxiety

You know, I've never shot at an indoor range....I imagine the noise would be quite a bit more noticeable in an enclosed area, even with protection. And on that note - Muffs are better than plugs, but both together is the way to go for maximum protection. +1 to what vamo said about suppressors...

    $200 for beater mosins

Yeesh. Wish I'd picked up an M44 while they were still cheap and plentiful. Local store wanted $200+ for a specimen that looked like it had sat in a swamp for the past 50 years....

    Underlug preference?

For those who don't see the sense in judging a gun on looks, maybe you'll think me less shallow if I show you what my everyday CCW looks like? ;) My first thoughts were that it must be a bear to shoot and it looks uglier than sin. I was wrong about the first, and as for the second? Well...
