    Itching for a .22 Mag

I passed up the chance for a S&W Stainless .22 WMR (648?) a few years ago, before Smith prices went through the roof. Still kicking myself. As to why anyone would want a DA .22LR, I can answer that in two words: K22 Masterpiece

    Amscor .22LR

Thanks, gents. That's the stuff. Just ordered a couple bricks. That should hold me through the "panic", "shortage" or whatever it is we are experiencing.

    Amscor .22LR

Since this appears to be the only .22LR ammo other than shot shells available, is it worth buying? Most of my shooting is in bolt and pump rifles and revolvers.

A gun used by a woman defending herself and her children

The story does mention hits to the head and neck, but also punctured lungs, stomach and liver and 4 exit wounds. It appears she shot him in the torso as well, unless the head shots migrated extremely. A poll of those critiquing her marksmanship, choice of firearm or ammunition: will all those...

What reloading press do you use??

RCBS JR3 (rifle, case forming and small batch handgun) and Lyman Spar-T (handgun). The RCBS has been serving me well for about 35 years and the Spar-T is a replacement for one I foolishly sold for college money a few years before that. I tend toward bolt action rifles and revolvers, so...

    22mag or?

I have a Savage 93 .22 Mag that is scary accurate. That Accu-Trigger made a believer of me. I don't have access to a range longer than 100 yds but at that distance it just drops one on top of another.

    Safe revolver carry?

All of the models you mentioned are safe to carry with all chambers loaded. That empty chamber routine is a holdover from the Colt single action. The only reason for an empty chamber under the hammer is to prevent a blow to the hammer from causing an accidental discharge. Modern double...

    Your betting gun (picture thread)

Pic will have to wait, but I won more than a couple bets on best time for 5 hits on a milk jug at 100yds with my Krag against levers, pumps and semis. That was 40 years ago, and I'm not nearly as fast as I once was.

Citizen Makes 165yd Revolver Shot to Save Cop From Ambush

Times have sure changed. If I had ever cuffed someone and not charged them my Sgt. would have nailed my hide to the wall. We used to call that an arrest, and if you don't have probable cause for an arrest (possession of a gun within sight of an officer wasn't a crime then) what is your...

What's the longest revolver barrel length that you would try to carry concealed?

Once winter I carried a 6" Colt Official Police in a Border Patrol holster under an Air Force parka. But mostly a 4" is my maximum. I've carried N-frame S&Ws in pancakes and K-frames in IWB rigs comfortably. Before my son moved out and took it with him I was about convinced that a 4" M15...

help valueing a couple nice handguns!

For dickering purposes, the lack of original grips on the 29-2 also decreases the value somewhat. You would probably put $75-$100 into a set of original style target stocks to make it "correct" for a collector.

    Farewell ol' Boxy!

Never mind the cooling. Mount a pizza oven under the box. Put the heat to good use, add more weight and you won't have to ask "what's for dinner?"

Rifle oil / solvent smells that trigger memories.

Since I lost my sense of smell in '97, this is a bitter-sweet post. Every once in a while I have "olfactory hallucinations" when the memory of a smell is strong enough that I think I really smell it. Hoppe's No.9 comes back to me occasionally and is very welcome. I read something years ago...

Whats a Colt Lawman MK 3 worth?

I carried a blued Lawman snub as my BUG in uniform and as my primary in Detectives. Yes, it's heavy, but in a proper holster it's a reassuring kind of heavy. It handled magnum loads as well as any .357 I've owned. That round butt grip is just shaped right.

Anyone seen a nagant revolver like this, what do I have?

CCCP = USSR November 15, 1939 Now somebody who can really read Russian please do the rest.

    22 mag, any ideas?

I bought one of the 93s (Black synthetic stock, heavy barrel, matte black finish) about 2 years ago. I am pleased beyond words with it. That Accu-Trigger is amazing. Watch the sale fliers from the big sporting goods chains. A couple of times a year one or more of them will have a package deal...

Ever traded a non-firearm for a firearm or vice versa?

I traded a Stevens 311 16 gauge and a pair of winter boots for a 1964 Buick Riviera.
