I realize this isn't the question at hand but figured I would throw it out anways... I don't know what price he's looking at for these two AR's but it would be a good chance that he could buy a lower receiver and a nice upper and have a brand new rifle for less than what he will pay for one of...
extra mags is not always necessary or wanted. I am on my 3rd AR-15 that I use for hunting rifles. I have only two mags and only need two mags and could not even imagine having to carry more than two 20 round mags full of ammo for all the walking I do when I am coyote hunting.
Excellent story! Congrats to your son and to the rifle. I know how well my CZ's shoot and have no doubt that they can compete against rifles costing much, much more than they do. There is a reason I own more CZ rifles and handguns than any others and it isn't because of the looks.
I did that back in the mid 80's when I got my first personal home computer. I made of list of every firearm and the serial numbers and stored them both as a hard coy and a digital copy and have been doing it ever since.
I think this thread is about snake season being here and how different people deal with it. You have every right to deal with these snakes however you feel is necessary and so does everyone else. Myself, I prefer to move them to a new location as apposed to dispatching them - that is my choice...

Personally I think you will like the Tikka. You could always get the T3 Hunter if you dislike the synthetic stock on the Tikka. I have the T3 hunter and love it almost as much as I like CZ rifles. They are very fine rifles that will shoot with the best of them.
Congrats on the new CZ. I have the CZ 75b in nickel finish and I absolutely love that gun. It is my favorite handgun to shoot. You will get lots of enjoyment out of it!.
I believe the Rossi levers are now called Pumas and they are priced nicely.
Here is a link to them.

While there are many reliable rimfire rifles out there it really breaks down less parts to break = more reliable - and since there are less parts it is easier to work on too. So I would suggest a quality brake action single shot.
