What's on your cameras this season?

I'll leave it up to the forum experts......does the buck in the foreground (last photo) physically dwarf the one behind it or is it a result of the deer just being closer to the camera?

    Is gunsmithing a lost art?

Most of mine needs can be met by a qualified machinist, who runs a CNC or metal making for living. Some things You-tube self help videos can't fix.

    Tell me about Shotshell reloading

As others have mentioned, volume is required to make the numbers work. When doing volume you'll want a progressive for sure. Buy components in big quantities....5000-to-10,000 at a time. Been pleased with the Mec Grabber.....but often wished it were motorized or went with a Ponsness Warren...

    Pronghorns on the high plains.

A few that were taken in Wyoming. Far right spiked doe was the one most satisfying hunt....taken with a handgun at 200 yards. Practiced all summer at that range and working up a .44 magnum load. Goal was to get the entire family unit (Buck, doe, fawn) mounted.

    Tell me about Shotshell reloading

Been said Horse Racing and Shotgun Shooting is the "Sport of Kings"......I tend to agree. At one time my two sons and I were all shooting competitively....we'd each average 200-to-300 rounds a week. Finally had to quit shooting so I could bankroll the boys. No regrets, now their kids are...

    Pronghorns on the high plains.

Great story, had something similar happen once. Get a herd moving around or on the move, trying to get your shot ready at the same time that can happen. Hunted Wyoming Antelope for years. Lots of good memories and enjoyable hunts.

Handgun Hunting w/ Steady Sticks (Why?)

Think you might be missing a key factor equating a rifle with a supported handgun....handgun calibers do not have the range of a rifle and bullet drop can be significant. That's where a support for the handgun can help. As others have point out, the distance you're shooting and skill level...

    Crossbow target failure

The Rhinehart 450fps target (pictured above) is the one that failed to stop the arrows. Thinking as these crossbow velocities increase the target technology has not kept pace. Gotta wonder how Rhinehart comes up with that rating and how it's achieved....how many arrows did the marketing people...

    Crossbow target failure

Using a Ravin R29 cossbow that is rated at 430 feet per second. Purchase a suitable target rated at 450 fps. Distance is 50 yards, getting the scope dialed in and everything looks pretty good. Target is new and arrows are not going into previous holes, then two arrows go so far into the target...

What's on your cameras this season?

Beware of falling trees....came across a good sized downed tree that broke off about 10' up, fell on trail blocking access, rotten in center. Cut it up with chain saw yesterday. Checking cameras and found the time it fell. Look closely at the upper right hand side of top photo, middle photo...

What's on your cameras this season?

    beware of thieves

I sympathize with anyone that has been the victim of thieves. Hope they get what's coming to them. Don't have a good answer to prevent it, tried to make it as difficult as possible for the scumbags. Have our farm under video surveillance, cameras, signage, and trail camera security boxes...

Cold weather hunting bibs and parka

Some of the newer technology is getting good reviews.....light weight, less bulky and heated w/battery power. (same type of batteries used with power tools) My clothing is good for awhile, but I'll be looking into the heated clothing next time.

Rumor: Gander Outdoors is getting rid of all of their Shooting/Hunting sections

I'm not price shopper....look for quality and features first. Never thought Gander had much to begin with, mostly mid-to-low end merchandise. Scheels on the other hand is doing a booming business with mid-to-high end products. Have one of the best gun, accessories, and reloading selections of...
