    Shipping an Antique Gun

Where in the atf regs is the word antique defined? I only see antique firearm defined, in Chapter 44 paragraph 921. Either way, an antique firearm is legal to ship via USPS.

Cap and Ball for cowboy action

Regarding subs in rifle cartridges, I am loading triple 7 2f in 44 wcf. I am using Missouri bullet company bullets which are lubed with blue hard lube. This shoots quite well, and leaves a nice a lube star at the muzzle. For shotshells, I load triple 7 2f and use Winchester red wads for one...

Cap and Ball for cowboy action

I shoot a pair of 51 colts, and could not be happier. I also have a 61 colt, and am planning to get another soon. Mine are Ubertis, and I have put Treso cones in them.

Why are FFL's often reluctant to receive from non-licensees?

Why are FFL's often reluctant to receive from non-licensees?

Having a financial burden does not increase or decrease the requirement of accurate recording of information in the a&d book. I have a brick and mortar store, and require anyone transferring a firearm to allow me to see their driver's license or other photo identification. I fail to see...

Why are FFL's often reluctant to receive from non-licensees?

Is that how you do it with walk in customers who sell you a gun, as well? Do you just take their word for it as to their identity?

478.125e is the part that references that, Bubba.

    Brass Hulls

I have shot them for cowboy action with black powder loads. The brass does expand, at least mine did. RCBS makes a die to resize them. You really don't need any tools to load them. Mine (from Magtech) use a large pistol or rifle primer, which can be seated on a block of wood, and a few...

    I'm being offered an AR

I am a dealer, and my experience shows that there are a number of better rifles for less than half of what the seller is asking. If you really want an Ar-15, look around for a good used rifle that has a chrome lined barrel and chamber. I am seeing used Bushmaster M4 style rifles in the...

    picked up a kimber solo

I shot a Solo this week...a customer brought one in to the range I work at. His first visit was not a success; many failures to extract with 147 grain fmj ammo. He brought it back two days later with Federal HST 124 grain hp and it was like a different pistol. I enjoyed shooting it...

    taking the casting plunge

I use a disposable lighter to smoke my aluminum molds. Candle flame may deposit wax residue on the cavities. I also find it helpful to pre-heat my molds by dipping the corner of the mold into the melt. Once no lead clings to the mold, it is hot enough. I set my Lee melter around 8 or 9...

    Derringer in Maryland

There are numerous cheap guns on the roster. The Hi Point is one that comes to mind. The trick with it is that there must be a petition to place a handgun on the roster for it to be approved. The petition can be initiated by anyone, including a private citizen. As a dealer, it is not...

El Paso saddlery makes a very nice product. I have some of their holsters and belts, and they are top notch.

When does engraver or stock refinisher need an FFL?

I recently went through a rather extensive audit by ATF. I did not find them to be "jack booted thugs" at all. They have regulations, and if you get a license, it is your duty to know and abide by those regulations, even if you think the regulations are unfair. No flashbang grenades...

For FFL's or those that know the laws, Shipping a handgun to the factory for repair.

No 4473 is needed to return a firearm to a customer from repair. That is assuming that the firearm is returned to the individual who brought it to the ffl to have it repaired.

Poor barrel fit 1861 Colt replica

I love this gun, but the barrel moves a bit when assembled. Nothing drastic, but enough to notice. What is the correct way to fix this problem? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Problem with new Cabela's Rem. 1858

I had a new percussion revolver that had a rough action, so I disassembled it. There was a spent cap, presumably from the factory, stuck in the action at the base of the hammer. Maybe you have a similar situation. I have had caps fall off while firing, and had a failure to fire as a...
