As you note the GAP has a small primer. This alone will keep you from ever loading a GAP case by mistake as it will not make it through the priming station.

I have sized down and loaded/shot the new Lee 158 gr RNFPL bullet. The one that looks like it is a cowboys style bullet with the flat point. I just ran it through my .356 die on my Star and loaded it up with some slower powder AA#5 and they shot good.

I own a Camp 45 but as soon as I got my AR15 in .45 ACP running I haven't shot it since. My big complaint was capacity and I solved that by building an AR in .45 ACP that uses 30 round grease gun mags. I also like that it is not a different manual of arms than my .223.

Why not get a Marlin Camp 45 in .45 ACP? That is the best companion for your 1911 since is uses the same magazines. It is a semi-auto carbine and is great. Unfortunatly they are not made anymore but you can still find them out there.
