Sierra 53gr HPBTs and 37.5 gr of 4064 shoot great on paper in my Swift, but doesn't do the best on groundhogs. For the ground hogs I like 55gr Ballistic tips over 37.5 gr of 4064.
You don't shoot them from the hip.
The proper technique for such a weapon is...
Shoot from eye level, sight down the barrel, weapon fully extended at arms length. With strong hand (trigger hand) PULL back, with support hand PUSH forward.
The HK sight takes a little getting use to, but I like them. I agree on the magazines. I have 4 10 rd mags, but I perfer the 8 rd. It looks better in the gun.

as far as I know, no one outside of custom work makes one in wood. I made this one for an old Wingmaster stock. It is easy to make, I did this one is a couple of hours.
