What are my choices for a 45-70?

Take a look at the Marlin 1895 in .45-70Govt, with a 22" barrel. I have one of these and I like the way it shoots. I also have a replica of the Springfield Trapdoor, Model 1875 with a 26" barrel. It's more expensive but fun to shoot. Here is a link for Marlin...

    Marlin 1894FG: What bullet weight?

Sisco, I have had my 1894FG for about a month now and am still breaking it in. I have shot some commercial Winchester Platinum Tip ammo through it. They are 240 grain hollow points with the performance of 240 grain .44 magnum loads. If you reload and shoot lead gas checked bullets, I...

    Need help/advice with a .45-90

redneck2, I use 777 FFg in a replica 1863 Zouave .58 rifled musket, .45-70 replica Trapdoor, Marlin 1895SS .45-70 and a Marlin 336 CB .38-55. Get the smoke but not the sulphur smell. Use less by volume than BP and get more muzzle velocity. I have had good experience with accuracy (out...

    Lever action questions

Sisco, I just bought a Marlin 1894FG about a month ago, to go with my older S&W model 57 (6 inch barrel). My old tired eyes don't work well with iron sights, so I installed a Cabela's red dot sight with 4 reticles. Works great! I'm still breaking it in as I don't get to the range that...

    Some thoughts on the .41mag

chaim, I bought my 57 back in 1978 to hunt hogs. I don't get to shoot it that much any more, but hope to when I retire in a couple of years. Used to reload ammo back in the early '80s and may get back into it soon. I normally shoot Remington "Green Box" 210 gr. but just bought some...

Marlin 1895SS I bought a Marlin 1895SS .45-70 a few months ago and am very happy with it. It has a longer barrel than the Guide model and is not ported. My other Marlin is a 336CB in .38-55 and I enjoy shooting them both. BTW, my first .45-70 was a Springfield 1875 Trapdoor which is...
